Default Speed Limiter

I've just installed a BellTech Stage 3 lowering kit so the high center of gravity is no longer an issue. My question is how do I go about removing the factory speed limmiter? And is anyone offering performance tunes for the base 3.3L? Thanks.

You’ll need a tuner of some sort. I’m not well versed on the 3.3 but check out SCT and see if they have something.

Hey, have you tried getting to the speed limiter with that engine? I'm afraid you don't need a tune. Ha ha. You need a supercharger, or a pair of turbos buddy . With that whale of a truck, I don't think even the 3.5EB has much more than that. I tried it already, and honestly, I don't want to go any faster than that on that behemoth. And also don't think my engine had much more than 105, to be honest. Oh, and it was drinking gas like there was no tomorrow; no thank you . It's just not the vehicle to speed, even if lowered some. Yeah, it should handle a bit better, but still. Like the saying goes: It's not how fast you go, but how you go fast. Certainly not fun with that steering system, and also not confidence-inspiring with that stock suspension, but to each his own. Just make sure you have enough liability insurance with that dump truck. Ha ha. Good luck.

I have conclusive evidence, obtained on a track, in Mexico, at night, that even a stock 3.5EB has plenty of headroom when the speed limiter hits. And, if you're running triple digits (on the track, in Mexico, at night) you don't really care about drinking gas.

5Star has tunes for the 3.3NA (https://5startuning.com/product-cate...-f150-3-3l-na/) which should remove the limiter. That said, I do suspect you're not going to see ludicrous speed out of the 3.3. They don't seem to have dyno graphs posted for the 3.3, but the 3.5NA only added ~25hp and 30ft-lb, peak to peak. You're building the classic "all show and no go" vehicle.

Oh, and be careful what you say about your desire to exceed the speed limiter. One of two things will happen - 1. your thread will get locked. 2. what you post will be referred to "people's exhibit 1" some day.

Just once I would like to see this question coming from someone with an aero modded 2,000 hp beast prepping to break 200mph at the Texas Mile. Then again, that guy probably wouldn't need to ask.

More important than the center of gravity - confirm the critical driveshaft speed before raising the factory limiter. Bad things can happen, parts can become shrapnel.

Tire speed rating is another one.

I like to call it, flinging part numbers everywhere.

Damn near the funnest day of my life with driving my car at the Texas mile, made it to ~170 mph before I ran out of track.
