Sirius Radio Gripes

It's APPALLING that Ford still uses the Sirius technology for their satellite radio receivers, where as every other OEM is using either XM or SiriusXM technology in their receivers.
SiriusXM/XM is a far superior audio codec, which is why every other car made today sounds way better with satellite radio.
There is no fixing this in the Fords. This is not a speaker problem.
If you want to look for yourself, here is a link from SXM with the modes supported per car.

Solutions to common problems:
- You can give them a credit card. You just have to tell them you do not wish for them to keep it on file. (your legal right)
- Once you have renewed your Sirius you can call them back and tell them you want to cancel on the last day of whatever you signed up for. They make you call them back as the renewal department is not the same as the cancel department. They tell you "You can cancel at any time". .."Yes I am cancelling a year(or whatever) from now."
- They give you the line that they can't give you one offer while you are currently on another offer. So you let it expire and call the next day. Big Deal if you are without Sirius for a day.
- You should be able to get 1 year for $60 or 6 months for $30...plus tax and sometimes "artist royalty fees". (Bogus charge that you may not be able to eliminate.)

Sorry but the worst sat radio is provided by Toyota, especially in their Prius. When you have our hand within an inch or so of the screen, it changes. Signal is lost when there is a tree nearby. Just junk. My wife traded for an Ecosport Titanium this afternoon. The Sync 3 and Sirius radio are leaps better than Toyota.

To the third point there is no need to let it lapse. A day or two before expiration (if you don't it will renew automatically at full price) call and tell them you want to cancel. They will make an offer on the spot but play the game. It doesn't take much to get to $5 / mo. Royalty fees are involved so figure another $5 for 6 months. If they offer 6 months tell them you want 12, then you're set for awhile.
Late October, about a month after getting my truck I got a call with an offer to extend beyond the trial period. I did so with all the perks described. The reason I did it then is to get streaming for my Jeep. That extended me out to 17 months @$5 / mo. with streaming.
I've been playing this game for years with them they will bend to keep you as a paying customer.

I would sure like to know how you managed to subscribe without giving them a credit card. This is the one thing I hate about Sirius. The damn games they play when subscribing. You must give them a credit card and to stop them from automatically billing you must call a special 800 number. You can't do it online. And every time I try it, they run you through a battery of options only in the end to be left on hold waiting your turn. And on two occasions, it just disconnected. In my case, on several calls it was over an hour. I will never understand why credit card companies allow this practice? Sirius says they do this to avoid unwanted loss of service. Like it would be the end of the world if it did quit and I had to call them to re-subscribe. When and if I wanted. Now, if I can, I always give them a card that will expire soon.
Also this feature is great for protecting your CC when making other phone or online purchases. Use it all the time and never had an issue, even with refunds. And you get a reward of 1% with a purchase and another 1% when you make your payment.
Disclaimer: I have no connection with Citi Bank except for my credit cards. I do get rewards in accordance with the stated policy of Citi Bank on my credit cards, as I do on all CC I have.

It’s too much work to beg Sirius for reasonable rates. I’ll stick with my personal collection on iPhone set to shuffle play.
