single "clunk" when starting the engine
2019 f-150 Lariot 10 spd v-8. I really wanna just cry right now because I’ve been down the warranty road, and the BBB road on a previous vehicle and I know how stressful it is. I heard the notorious clunk on my brand new 60k dollar vehicle and it didn’t take long to find this thread. Reybeast (or anyone else), if you have any luck with a lawyer let me know and I’ll certainly pass along my documentation of this issue. I’m taking it in for it’s first service in another couple thousand miles and will be sure to document their response on the issue. My only hope is that I’ll be ready to trade it in BEFORE this beast of a tranny fails, or that we can make some headway together as a community, and Ford issues some form of recall or software update. Ok I think I’m done crying now 😅
18 Platinum 5L. Have the clunk . Also have a clunk shifting into reverse. Got dieseling sounds from the engine a lot of the time when accelerating. TSB about that, telling dealers to NOT fix it, since it's normal.
This is the most expensive truck I've bought. There wont be another.

My 2019 is at the dealer now to be looked at. I got tired of people asking "what happened to your new truck, is it knocking?". I'm sure they won't fix it, but at least I'll have it "on the books". The VVT rattle is pretty annoying too, but it sounds like all ford engines with VVT are doing that.
My '19 3.5eb 10spd with 5200 miles has a loud clunk on start up sometimes too.
Doesn't always do it, and doesn't matter if it's hot or cold.
I have an Auto start/stop eliminator switch now too, but never heard a clunk before the rare time the truck restarted itself.
I can't say for sure what it is, but definately the engine or transmission, and more likely the engine.
It's almost as if it happens in a specific location, like how far from TDC the engine is or isn't, if it stops in that position, it clunks on start up...whatever position that may be.
Sometimes I get a cold start rattle momentarily, then that's gone.
I also get the cold start 3-4, or 4-5 lazy shift the first time it shifts through those gears.
All of these issues happen once, for only a moment, then they're gone.
I have no other noises or any driveability issues.
My heated steering wheel likes to come on randomly, if I remote start with heat on 73/74 or above.
My driver seat memory hasn't worked properly 4 times.
Random quirks I wish weren't there, but haven't really caused any problems.
