Default Clunkin around town

Dealer now saying its normal for start up clunk. This being told to them direct from Ford Engineering Dept. In addition to this my truck (2018 F 150 5.0) now clunks in between gears, same sound like at start up. Seems to happen when i let foot off the gas to press brake, or just when letting off gas like when you wanna slow down. Been shutting it off while in drive lately, than put E brake on, than put it in Park. Seems to eliminate start up clunk.

Also! Noticed my oil was 4 quarts low!! Crazy, good thing i checked. Maybe from factory theyre shorting the oil to save $. Wouldnt surprise me at this point!

Happy Xmas everyone!!!

I have the clunk, and tried a suggestion posted earlier. I put it in park, foot off the brake letting it settle against the transmission.....then apply parking brake. It does not clunk when I start the truck if I do it that way

I recently purchased a 2018 F-150 and it also has this clunk on startup.

Did adding the missing four quarts of oil change anything?

Has anyone gotten the Technical Bulletin: 18-2274 TCM update done?

Seems to work sometimes yes, but cannot really prove if that is reason for it or not.......its just sad that customers have to find some way to resolve this on theyre own. Never had so much headache over a vehicle b4 this...

All I can add is I've driven 5 (yes five) different 2018 F150s over the last month for at least 4-5 days each. Two 3.5s, and three 5.0s. They all did this on startup. But only when the engine was already warm. Also does not do it when it's a function of auto start/stop starting the engine. Just does it if you drive it around park it, walk into the grocery store or something, and come out and start it again.

Right! Only when at normal operating temperature or hotter. I noticed will do it much louder if your hauling a load like say 500lbs or more....On hot or warm days its bad and frequent. Mine now will clunk in between shifts sometimes....sad

I can't remember if I posted this already or not. I have had the clunk on start up for several months. For the past 3-4 months I also have a weird noise after a clunky start up and begin to drive. I crank the truck while already at operating temperature, get the clunk, put it in drive, begin to move forward and it makes a weird rotational/rubbing type sound for about 15-30 yards. This happens after I have been driving and stop for a short period of time. For example, if I stop and eat some fast food and than leave. I have brought it to the dealer for this problem. They completely ignored everything I told them. Read me the SSM about the transmission whine when I picked it up even though I specifically told them I was not talking about the whine when I dropped it off. This noise is extremely easy to duplicate in my truck. Anybody else have this problem after a clunky start up?
