Default Side Mirror Upgrades?

Not looking to replace the mirrors themselves but just wondering if things such as puddle lamps and turn signals can be added to my current one. I have a 2017 XLT with the standard Power Mirrors but none power folding and NO turn signals.

I see there is a removable plastic piece with the puddle lamp would go, so I'm curious about doing that. Also, would like to add the mirror turn signals. So im wondering if the bottom trim piece can be replaced with one with the cutout for the turn signals and then add the turn signals.

Don't know about turn signals but would like to add the puddle lamps. What do I need to do to add these?

I don't want to replace my mirrors, just want to see if I can add these items to my current ones.

Also, where do the LED mirror spotlights normally go and can they be added?
Thanks-

I have a set of XLT mirrors on the way. They have power adjust/heat/signals and auto-dim. I would love to be able to add OEM puddle lights. Following.

Edit, found this: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/anyon...lights-363235/

I am just not sure what "Blue wire is power and goes to PDM/DDM." means for sure from post #16

Most of the circuits that go out into the mirror are feed from the DDM/PDM. Something like the puddle light or turn signal, the turn on signal is fed out on the network circuit and the DDM/PDM turns on what it is told to. The only one that doesn't is the parking light.
The OEM puddle lights do not go into that small removable cover on the bottom of the mirror. The OEM LED is not square or round, so will be a pain to cut into the bottom of the mirror. You can order an aftermarket light which is round, makes it much easier to install. Find a mirror or a photo of the mirror and you will see what I mean.

I can't say for sure as I don't know, but I strongly believe that what you are asking is not feasible. I am willing to bet you will have to buy upgrade mirrors, and run some wiring. I have Trail Ridge mirrors from 1AAUTO and love them. You can get a pair of them for about $600/pair if you decide to go this route.

Oh, I was thinking that that removable cover was where the OEM puddle lights go. What does normally go there or is it just an access cover? This is the removable cover on the bottom "arm" of the mirror.

Is there anyway to add the turn signals? Do the mirrors come apart enough that I can swap the bottom trim of the mirror for one that has a cut in it for the turn signal? If i had the turn signals, i would wonder if I could wire it or program it to make them running lights instead of turn signals?

Are you positive that the bottom part is removable? The top part definitely is. It might be worth your while to drive to a Ford dealership so you can examine the tow mirrors on the trucks in stock.

I was talking about the cap on the bottom of the standard mirrors.

I would just keep an eye out for a used set on facebook or craigslist.
I just picked up a set of 2015 lariat mirrors (power fold, heat, puddle, spot, BLIS, etc) for $120.00
I have a 2018 STX so i just ordered all the wiring, modules, and switches to convert over to a 2 pin connection. A few forscan changes and ill be in business.
Check out my build for updates once my wiring comes from Tasca

Was thinking of buying aftermarket with the piddle lights already there. Would they work with the harness that an '17 XLT 302A already has? Just plug and play like the 12th gens were? Seems more a hassle than it's worth if they aren't P/P.

Several things here, there are a couple of good threads already for the mirrors. The little door is where the side camera goes if you have it. Yes you can dismantle the mirror, but you have to be careful otherwise you will break parts.
If you have the 8 pin plug which is behind the trim piece on the inside the door where the old vent window from ages ago, your limited to what you can add. Puddle lights are not part of the 8 pin plug, turn signals are and they will work if you were to plug the mirror in. You have choices with aftermarket mirrors, OEM mirrors are expensive. There are a couple of extra pins in the 8 pin plug, I used them to run my puddle lights but eventually found a set of mirrors, one at a time to upgrade them. I also ended up changing the harness's in the doors along with the DDM/PDM door modules to get the 22 pin plugs, so now I have power folding, heated, turn signal and puddle lights.
