What parking lot is that ? Where you have to navigate within 5 inches (or less) from my bumper ?

Sorry - if you drive through a parking lot and go past cars with less than 5" to spare ... You are way too close to begin with

This thread is entertaining!!! Not gonna say which side I'm on.......which reminds me, I need to pick up a receiver hitch ball this weekend.

I have a hole in the back of my truck that stores one. I'll leave it there instead of rolling around in my truck or in my bed. I'll also make sure to not worry about what other people do with their property, you know, because it doesn't affect me.

:edit:

I also back in to my spots in the parking lot so I guess I'm not included in your parking lot peeve.
Nope. Then he would argue that because you have to park six inches further out in front so now his knees might hit your front bumper so you're at the wrong

If I am going fishing after work, the hitch ball is already in the receiver so I can just hitch & go. Time is valuable.

While camping for just one night; set up and then head to the nearest town for supplies? Hitch stays on!

On my farm trucks, the shock hitches for towing farm machinery & wagons were permanently mounted/welded.

I think this thread is great... because frankly a trailer hitch only impacts two kind of people:

a) folks starring at their phone while walking VERY close to vehicles on a parking lot
b) folks who rear-end other vehicles or who "park on contact"

... hence it's a no-issue. don't complain about "excessive" damage to your vehicle when you don't pay attention to traffic and are distracted in stop'n'go traffic.

If you want to get technical, at least here in the USA a hitch is something thats bolted or welded to the frame and IS NOT removable. It receives the removable part which is why it's commonly called a RECEIVER hitch. The DRAW BAR is the part thats removable.

"Park on contact"

New phrase I'm gonna use, love it.

LMAO... Ok, just to clear up a couple of things...

1. I've only hit my shin on my OWN hitch and it hurts like hell.
2. I didn't even know what Pokeman Go was until AFTER this thread started. I am not one to walk around using my cell phone, I'm too old for that.
3. I have a 16 y/o daughter learning to drive and she almost backed into someone's hitch in a parking lot because she "didn't see it". The guy didn't pull all of the way into his parking spot, he had a long bed truck and a big freakin' hitch sticking out 2-3' into the driving lane. He also had an Obama sticker on his bumper... 'nuf said...
4. The post was meant to bring humor... and I laughed my butt of at some of your posts. Thanks!
5. I haven't worn a condom in 14 years... for what it's worth.

...and most importantly... I didn't come back to this thread because, for some reason, I stopped getting notifications on my phone.

So your daughter would otherwise nearly have backed up into his bumper - assuming nobody aims to park with just a few inches from someone's vehicle ? As "the other guy" I strongly prefer teenagers backing into my ball hitch vs into my chrome bumper... The majority of the forum tends to agree
