Default Shift light

Looking to put a shift light in to help with kicking some rice rocket. I know a 3.5l ecoboost will do the job but need to know the shift rpm in sport mode and how to hook s shift light up to show me when to shift.

Billbeau ... how to hook s shift light up to show me when to shift.
For your off-road | track shift light how-to ... The various manufacturers (e.g. MSD, AutoMeter, etc.) provide installation instructions (including downloadable PDF documents).

Only issue is that those directions are for distributor, msd box, or crank trigger setups. For computer type setups like our trucks you need to tap into a wire for the tach or something of that sort.

When I had my LS1 you had to tap a wire from the computer and have the shift light set to 4 cyl.

I don't agree with street racing this question was not for that reason. We do have tracks that allow you to choose who you race and allows you to pick on certain types of cars.

Put in it sport mode, put it in drive and hold it to the floor. The TCM can shift faster and more consistently than you ever will. You will gain nothing manually shifting.

And each manufacturer has alternatives / considerations for that.

Actually the TCM may not shift at a point I want it to. I'd have to see a dyno sheet for where peak torque is. The TCM may shift to early or to late for the best time at the track. That's why all my street cars that I raced at the track were manual shifted automatics. Now with this 6 speed that comes with a manual mode should be a killer once we can get to stop the sloppy shifting and make harder or firmer shifts. Another option is a higher stall convertor. You could see almost half a second of track times.
