Default Shift delay from reverse to drive

Have a 2015 F150 Fx4 with 3.5EB. When shifting from reverse to drive, there's a good 2-3 second delay. I can see this being a very dangerous situation when backing into a busy street and needing to take off immediately.

Does anyone else have this issue/know of a fix?

Mine did that in the beginning but for what ever reason it does not anymore. More from neutral to drive. Yes dangerous, I've given some throttle not realizing it did not shift and when it finally jumped into gear it's was aggressive to say the least. Not sure how many miles you have.

Try having your dealer clear the Transmission's Adaptive Learning Memory. That made my trans act a lot nicer in all regards, even shift speed between R-D and N-D.

You might even try disconnecting the neg battery cable of a minute, and see if that helps. That might reset whatever is causing that.

Thanks for the ideas on possible fixes. I'll give them a shot and report back. Hopefully just disconnecting the neg will work since it's easiest, but I'll let y'all know how it goes.

I had to do this first the first time yesterday and notice that the truck did take a while to start moving. I had to step on the gas hard to get it to go.

Mine has been doing this since day one. It's now one year later and still doing it.

Yeah not sure if it's 2-3 seconds but definitely a delay for me as well. About a year in with 12000 miles. Just have gotten used to it. Still annoying and potentially dangerous

My guess is that it is safety software written into the transmission.
Be sure you stop completely and then shift the gear selector at that point it should go right into the other gear..

I can tell you that if I rush my truck by moving the shifter before the truck is completely stopped there is definite hesitation...

What I mean is slamming the transmission from reversed to drive while the vehicle is in motion is definitely harmful the engineers know this and they are thinking of the warranty.
