Seat collapsed in collision

Just to add to the previous comments, I was rear ended at a light, the person that hit me was going in excess of 60mph and didn't brake until the last second, I reduced the impact by letting my foot off the brakes as I saw him coming but it was a pretty hard hit. My seat maybe reclined a little but in no way enough to interfere with my rear passengers, i'm a big guy, 240lbs+.
Definitely a faulty seat.

Yeah I’m 200lbs and drivers seat didn’t budge but still scary that my pregnant wife could have been there...
Rant warning: Too bad bad Ford (and every manufacturer) isn’t really caring about my family’s safety as it seems to be a buyer beware world but as more and more happen it’s really hard to be empathetic to others when you are constantly faced with crap like this. Yeah it may be a defect but someone should have known or should have checked, as seats aren’t assembled by machines. If it comes down to profit then others on the inside that are just collecting a wage are turning a blind eye either through fear of their job or fear of standing up for their fellow co workers who spoke up.
Sad that the world is the way it is, from the girl who was texting and hit me to the useless autoworker(s) that built my passenger seat.

Well, this is interesting. About halfway down it mentions the F 150 :

And then there`s this:

They might be similar to what you experienced, they might not be. In my experience, many of the issues addressed by recalls for some years don't get fixed in following years or get worse...i.e. the brake failures, adaptive cruise, etc.
Also, I didn't mean to feed you misinformation, I just remembered a recall for seats reclining in collisions (but couldn't remember specifics, i.e. year, drive/passenger side, etc).

Maybe you need a lawyer. I don't think I'd let this go.

I would get my own private adjuster out there before ford touches it!

Does Canada have an equivalent to our NHTSA? If not, I wonder if you are allowed to make a report on this site, on a made in USA vehicle?
The form does not seem to ask for your address.

Danger requires Notification
17 crewcab/6.5 was rear ended yesterday by a Toyota Matrix and everything will be fixed I'm sure but I am astounded that my passenger seat collapsed (no passenger was in when I was hit) and is now jammed under the carseat in the back seat... car is totalled and dove under rear bumper and nailed my passenger rear tire and pushed us about 20ft. Damage isn't that bad to the truck when all is considered, new bumper/hitch/exhaust/frame horn for hitch mount, but I'm really questioning the safety for my pregnant wife and daughter. Will be going to a car seat with the rear crash bar now so the seat can't flip up like this one did but right after the accident the base was about 6" off the seat cushion, looks like it is settling in on the foam now and sinking back in but the passenger seat is still frozen and non-responsive to all controls.
I would not think this is normal at all and frankly do not really want my little girl back there in the truck when I do get it back. Has anyone else experienced this? what should I be talking to with the dealership when it goes in to be fixed regarding the seat fix? The adjuster from TD will be around this week as Universal ford in Calgary is not a 'preferred' shop but I would rather keep it at a ford facility for repair as Universal has their body shop in house.
Thanks in advance!!!

Just an update, but Transport Canada is going to have an investigator on site when Ford takes apart the seat and hopefully I will have confirmation back on what has failed and either it will be a 'yeah just a failed rivet or bolt that was installed incorrectly' or 'whole seat frame bent' kind of a diagnosis but either way it shouldn't have happened. TC did confirm this is the first case of a F150 seat collapse for the new gen. reported for the country but unsure if that is just because no one reported it or there was just nothing to report.
Should have an update next week sometime once they disassemble and get parts ordered! Thanks for the support and background knowledge so far everyone!
