I've been hanging out on the forums for about a month now since I ordered my new XLT. I've learned sooooo much and have been making notes on the items to check on my new truck...when it arrives.

Something I haven't seen addressed though: has anyone noticed a pattern to when a VIN is actually assigned? I check every day, but I figure it must happen on certain days of the week. What has your experience been?

 

I've been told they are assigned 3-5 days after the order is placed if the dealer has allocation. If no allocation then no VIN until allocation is assigned.

 

Can anyone verify this info?

My order has been in since 1-5-15, still no VIN assigned.

 

I Ordered mine on 1/3 with no VIN yet.

What 2015Plat150 makes sense. I guess what really matters for us is: when are the allocations made? Any particular day or is it throughout the week?

 

Mine was placed on 1-7-17, and no info.... Sent a PM to Crystal with Ford and asked if she has anything to add.

I really wonder if a lot of us who are waiting for VINs are builds that will be assigned to KC. Just a thought.

 

I just sent an email to my salesperson to get in touch with me about the status of the VIN.

We'll have to wait and see what he finds. The allocation situation could very well be the culprit here.

I'll post any info I find here... if I find anything out at all.

 

Ordered my lariat on Dec 31, made changes on Jan 19. Phoned Ford today and they told me that KC will be building my truck, and they wont be starting to build the next group of trucks till Feb 13. I don't have VIN yet either.

 

What all are you ordering? Mine is a SCrew with the 6.5' bed. I think those are being produced in Dearborn or at least have been.

Allocation is basically what orders each dealership can have. That includes custom and their stock orders. From what I've read, it's more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it.
