Default Rusty muffler already?

Swapped out the factory muffler for this one just about a year ago. Is this what it should look like? If so, why just on the seams?

probably didn't use a stainless filler.
if really concerned, sand it off, spray with a high-temp paint

Ok, thank guys. I ran some sandpaper over it and removed about 60% of it. I'll go back over it with a wire brush and drill.

You did a whole cat-back system? If so, what brand? I'd not want to buy that.

his post said he just swapped out the muffler.

looks like this weld was done on the truck with an OA torch and unknown filler.

Doesn't explain the same rust on the muffler end. They are rusted so similarly, I suspect its a cat back, and not a particularly non-corrosive one.
