Ill snap pics of mine tomorrow, its got 3600kms and is a month old zero rust whatsoever. Two days after I received it I had it rust proofed(krown). It looks freshly painted like it should. My truck was ordered in July and received in September.

Here are some before and after pics. I have more but this gets to the point. I feel it's unacceptable and is why I had my dealer fix the issue.

Be happy with the rust - it is nature's way of protecting the metal underneath. If you want it to look good, just hit it with some POR-15 or Rust Bullet - both awesome products...

Terrible picture, been rushing all day and remembered this post. Look at the difference in the drive shaft yoke. No rust. 3600kms

Diff housing actually dirty, not rusty

Yeah its weird, my 13 had a rusty rear end right of the carrier. My 2015 has zero rust! I have 1,525 miles on it now and still no rust. I noticed the frame has been coated in a different material than my 2013.

It looks almost painted. It has a semi gloss look. I know they used special corrosion protection in the 15 model. Maybe they frame has been coated or painted with a special product.

My 2013 have zero coating on the rear end, hence the rust. It didn't bother me. I drove it for 15,000 miles through snow, ice and rain. It never got worse. Rust is just natures protective from of oxidation. Just watch out for rot.

I am happy to have zero rust on the 2015. I know the rust wont hurt anything. I just feel better with a nice pretty painted rear end.... oops that didn't sound right

Yep, Toyotas don't have this problem...

Unless you do a Google search for Tundra undercarriage rust and find a ton of results including a huge recall over it and ongoing problems in that area.

http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tun...t-already.html

As others have mentioned, companies cut costs. But if it was a legitimate safety issue or anything more than cosmetic Ford would be best served to fix it because with it happening so early odds of it being a warranty issue would be high. I've seen these threads going back to when I got my 2012, but don't see a bunch of threads of those same people talking about those parts breaking apart and falling away.

I mean, it sucks from a cosmetic stance and I wish Ford was better about it, but they are parts I see maybe 1% of my time owning the truck. Why stress out over it? And I say that regardless of if it is a Toyota, Dodge, Ford, whatever.

Then there were those pesky tacomas in the early 2000's whose frames were rotting away at an extremly rapid rate...but Toyotas NEVER have rust issues...

Literally every truck on the lot has it up here in New England. A couple of years going through our winters and I promise you the underside won't be clean, but you still routinely see 150s with 200+k miles on them running strong and not falling apart entirely.

Those are the diff and driveshaft. The truck as 3,300 miles and this is/was completely unsatisfactory. That rust is due to a penny cruncher at Ford. I busted the rust with a wire brush used a rusty metal primer followed by enamel paint.

Also found this anode.

I'll post the after pictures later but if a Ford CSR tells you that is normal for a less than 5,000 mile truck they are full of it.
