I live in OH so all my cars and trucks look like that after a year or so. Or one winter. I normally let it go a year or so then take it down to metal and paint it again.
Thanks.Will do tomorrow.

I own an f-150. I understand you are a
UAW worker and are brand loyal to Ford. I would be if I was too. But as a consumer, all being brand loyal does is put blinders on you. You cannot deny that things like uncoated steel on the undercarriage and no wheel well liners are pure cost cutting measures by Ford to put more money in their pocket. Do you think that they lower the sticker price of the truck by omitting these items?

Say they save $300 per truck by not installing wheel well liners and painting diffs and other suspension parts. $300 x 700,000 trucks per year= an extra $210 million in pure profit. Ford doesnt care about their customers. All they care about is their shareholders just like any other comoany. They know what they are doing...

These threads never mention the worse rust. Like rust on the steel, unpainted transmission pans and the bolts that hold the pan on. This is not normal, but is the way these new Fords are. Mine came rusted, and yours will be rusted shortly if not already.

I totally agree with you they look at all ways to cut cost & jack up the price. I've had that surface rust on my 97, 99 SD, & 01...completely normal. Some people paint a lot of parts underneath, no big deal. Were rear wheel liners an option in previous MY's? I didn't have them on any of my previous trucks....I don't remember seeing them on the trucks when I worked at the truck plant but its been a few years & I honestly don't remember.

I have had 1 Chevy 1978
a 1980 1989 1981 1991 1997 2004 2010 2015 F150
a 2006 Dodge Ram BIL's

None of them ever had wheel well liners or tranny diff or most of the other under carriage parts painted. My Toyota FJ Cruiser was covered in rust under it when I bought it a 2007.

I never really worried about it, I would just paint it in the summer time if it started to bother me. The Ram was a POS with electrical problem and lost of body rust. It was my BIL's

The Chevy rusted thru the floor boards and I got rid of it the second year I owned it.

lol I love how the Toyota people come here telling me I'm blind minded & loyal to Ford & then they just drool how Toyota does this better or that better with their blind minded view. They all look ways to cut corners & jack the price up.

It's all about the money. And if they tell you it's not, it's still all about the money. Every time.
