Ford rep called me last Friday to get the story. Called back yesterday to let me know that Ford will pay to have the rear axle cleaned and painted. (It's mostly the front of the diff, but I wasn't going to correct her ) The shop will inspect then correct.

The dealership I purchased from doesn't have a body shop, so I have to take it across town to their sister dealership. I have Friday off, so I'm planning on taking it in first thing Friday morning.

Not sure what's up with the rust. I checked all the 2015's on the lot at the dealership i deal with and one Platinum was just loaded with rust on the rear axle as well with other parts and the rest had none. Weird!!!

 

Mine is a Platinum and has rust on the front too. I might just have to get this looked at too. I spent alot of money to have a nice truck. why not.

 

My 2013 had the surface rust on the driveshaft and rear axle the day I drove off with it. Extremely common and nothing to worry about.

 

My Platinum had rust on the front of the diff housing, but not on the painted rear, as well. It almost seems like Ford is trying to fool customers with a half-assed paint job. I agree that it's mostly cosmetic, but those rust stains on a concrete garage floor from dripping rainwater tell the tale.

 

Mine has a rusty axle... picked it up today... Not really worried about it but still a pisser...

 

I picked mine up on Monday. I had just a little rust on the front side. The rear looked perfect. Why the inconsistencies? Sort of like the door gaps and seam sealer - some good, some bad.

 

Mine looks just like the picture LCW posted (driveshaft/ rear diff). Pretty frustrating on such an expensive machine. My Mustang is 2.5 years old and has much less than my f150 after just a month.

 

Mine has rust in the rear axle, front, muffler resonator. I only had my truck for 2 weeks. 2015 F150 Lariat.
