Default Run wire from drivers side into engine compartment

I need to run a wire or two into the engine compartment and am looking at cutting the zip tie off this grommet so that I can run the wires. Is this the best option on the driver's side?

Use a coat hanger to poke a hole and pull the wire through. Have 2 people so you can watch inside to make sure it dont poke into anything on the way out.

I've got 36 inch zip ties that I can poke thru. Was just asking if this grommet is the best choice. It appears to have space to accommodate more wires if the black zip tie is cut. Haven't looked under the hood to see the other side though.

What size wire are you running and what for? If it's power wire for say an amp....I've always gone on the passenger side. It might take you a little longer to get it through the firewall but you'll use less wire. Just my two cents.

That grommet will work fine as long as you're not trying to pull a 4 gauge amp wire through. Cut the zip tie on both sides and have a helper straighten out the 45 degree part of the engine bay side of the grommet. Then use those 36" zipties as a wire pull.

Thanks. Will be pulling 16 or 18 gauge wire.

I hate punching existing grommets. Rubber firewall boots are only a couple of bucks on Amazon.

If you use one of these tools, the job of punching a firewall grommet gets MUCH easier.

If you crawl under the truck, you'll see there's a hole in the floorboard under the driver's feet (also a hole on the passenger side). I installed a CB in my truck and did a how-to post on it that may help you with whatever you're doing:
