Default Rolling down window in rain to fold mirror

So, I have to fold in my driver side mirror to make it into the garage. I have to roll my window down every morning when I've backed out so I can push it back out. Love to have power-folding mirrors, but I'd also like a whole lot of things lol. Some mornings, as nature does, it's pouring rain/snow and makes moving the mirror really suck.

Anyone have a slick solution to either pull in/fold out the mirror with only a little bit open or some type of jerry-rigged umbrella/shield to block the rain while you stick your arm out to do this?

I know exactly how you feel. My wife thought I was crazy with how much I complained about needing to fold that damn mirror in every time I pulled the truck in or out. Add the snow or rain and I was finding myself grabbing a different set of keys.

As for your question, not really. I learned to keep a napkin or two at hand so that I could keep the window switch dry.

I ended up biting the bullet and paying the money for aftermarket power folding mirrors through 1a auto. Beware that forking over the money for the mirrors is only a slight sting compared to adding all the included wires. Not too terrible a job but very time consuming. I couldn’t be happier to have them though as not only do they function flawlessly but they completely alter the look of my truck in a great way.

Just curious..... if you have to fold the driver side mirror in to get into the garage, how do you get out of the truck? Seems like you wouldn't be able to open the door.

Once he pulls in he likely has 1-2 ft of space to open the door. The door opening is smaller than the garage itsef.

My 3rd car garage is the only one long enough to house my truck- cc/6.5. Unfortunately, I would have to manually pull in both mirrors if I want to use the garage. Living 700' from the ocean, I want to find a solution soon. I looked at A1 Auto, a bit pricey, but their kit, at the time, only included the dual arm tow mirrors. I'll check again, but is this what you used or did you go a different route?

My solution is leave it out side. Problem solved. Really in the winter leave it outside. If you keep putting it in garage all the salt and stuff melts and lands in all the spots you can't wash. If you leave it outside it never thaws until till you hit a car wash and get rid of all the salt and crap. Lots of states have started doing this with their plow salt tossing equipment

This is good to know. Since I had parked outside last night after plowing, even though it was 40* today, nothing will melt until I get to the car wash! Win!

I too have a 3 car garage and only fit in the third spot. I could squeeze in with about 2-3 inches on each side with one mirror folded in. Indeed I have the tow mirrors you are referring to. While in the folded position I have 4-6 inches of clearance per side.

Pricey? Yes. A pain in the butt to install? Not really but VERY time consuming. I spent about 7 hours and took my time for the most perfect install I am capable of. (I’m a master certified mechanic of 30 years which means my body no longer enjoys being under a dash.)

I absolutely love the look of these big mirrors and would buy them again in a second. I only wanted the power fold and got great looks, heated, puddle lights, turn signals, and flood lights added as a bonus.

I can't offer an easy solution here, but I will tell you this: I did some work for a smart guy (City Inspector) at the new house he was building for his family. New build.

Three car garage he was building! I look at the width of all three doors, and a truck with mirrors would not fit.

I didn't say anything, since it's not my business to when dealing with customers, but I should've let him know his truck won't fit in any of the three holes!
