Default Rock Chip or Paint Defect

So I noticed this spot on my rear passenger side last week when I was washing my truck for the first time. I really thought it looked like a defect in the paint so I took it to the dealership today, Ford disagrees. Ford is saying it's a chip and won't be covered. There are three spots all within about a 1/2" where the paint is either chipped or looks rough. The area to the left of the two chips looks like it's about to start flaking off as well. I didn't think I could get three impact points from a rock.

The truck is a 2016 with about 1400km (less than 1000 miles) on it.

I don't know, what do you think?

parking lot door damage, Park as far away from everyone as possible and walk. That would minimize this type of chipping

The gray underneath is the electrostatic primer.

I have seen other threads where the paint looked similar. It's like instead of scratching off it chips off. That's at least twice the size of the impact or larger. Seems like they need to figure out a better paint that sticks better.

I park so far away from other cars it's not even funny. My wife thinks I'm crazy. I don't remember hearing any rocks hitting me when I went on the one highway trip I took so far. Sucks though, I might have to get one of those paint chip repair kits and some touch up paint.

Looks like a rock chip to me. As long as it stays like that. But if it peels from there, then no, it's a defect.

These trucks sure do seem to chip easy. I have more chips in my paint from rocks and such in 6 months than my bmw had in 3 years. I don't know if it's just bad luck or ford

This is a common post on almost every forum I've been on.

Took my first rock chip today. Was behind a dump truck on the highway and moved to the other lane to get away / around it before it threw a rock. Well..... A fee seconds late - boing (anyone notice that how hollow these trucks sound when large rain drops or rocks hit the roof???). When I got to work sure enough a small chip in the paint about an inch above the windshield on the roof. Just glad it hit there and not the windshield....

I can't get to my PPF appointment on the 29th soon enough - though I wasn't planning on covering that surface but I may have them run a 4" strip on the roof line now....

Guess I need to pick up a tube of touch up paint.

Mine chips really easy also. Have about 6 in 2800 miles. More than anything I have owned. That's mostly city driving for 3 miles a day.

Like I said before, this is the most common paint related post on any forum I've ever been on.
