I headed to the Google to see this Tundra... the Ford has much more to offer. Get the truck you like.

I've been a loyal Toyota & Honda customer for a very long time. My Rav4 has been the best vehicle I ever owned & I'm trading it in for my first American car, an F150. I looked at the Tundra (the Tacoma was too small) & for the money, it was nowhere near the F150 for value. The Platinum Tundra was missing so many features compared to a Lariat F150 such as Push to Start, Homelink, Large screens, LEDs, cooled seats, etc. To tip it over the edge, the MPG on the Tundra was terrible compared to the F150.

The only advantage I gave the Tundra was reliability & build quality because they have a good history & reviews in this area are the best. If my F150 treats me well, I don't see any reason I would switch from it but if the Tundra gets a significant redesign, I will look into it when the time comes.

I guess the point of my post is that I would go with the F150 if you are looking for the most bang for your buck.

Thank you everyone for your input. I hope I didn't sound like a troll and while I currently own a Tundra, I did own a 2001 F150 Supercrew with 5.4 L V8 previously.

Being unfamiliar with the current generation, I wanted to know your thoughts were on the engine I mentioned and if there were any known maintenance issues.

So far, it appears everyone is giving good indications that the truck I mentioned is as good, if not better than I originally thought.

Rexey - thank you for the list of items to check, good information and things I wouldn't have considered.

I think they are a good bet. Im sure the 2.7 will have the most amount of growing pains as the other engine options had theirs years ago.

Have fun with your purchase!

yeah buddy all good I don't want to chase you away by any means. Go test drive it. You'll love it. I know it.
Likely most of that list was the first trucks down the assembly line. So once again likely have no issues but were a family here and I don't want anyone disappointed or screwed. Information is always power. Good luck!!!!

Update - I took the truck I was looking at out for a test drive and I was actually shocked at the get up and go of the 2.7 V6. I was at 65 mph before I knew it. I was also amazed at the ride quality and how quiet the cab was when driving down the road at highway speeds.

I checked every door, every seat, and the tailgate. The auto stop/start feature didn't kick in so I didn't experience that, but the sales person pointed out the override button. I played around with the touchscreen Sync 3 system.....overall, good impression.

Now if I can negotiate a price that I am comfortable with, it looks like I will be getting a new truck.

Well, it is a done deal and I pick up my new truck on Tuesday....although I do feel a little sad about trading my Tundra in. She's a good truck, but I think it is time to move on.

I took a couple of pics of the new truck.

Congrats on the new truck Maxx! I missed your first post otherwise I would have chimed in - I also traded in a Tundra (2010 rock warrior)
on my 2016 2.7 Screw. If you're interested, you can view one of my first posts as it was a comparison between the 2 trucks.

I have close to 3k miles now and I'm more convicted than ever about how much I love this truck and powertrain. I did/do have an intermittent buzzing in the gas pedal that is annoying but seems to be mostly worked out - Other than that this truck has provided the highest initial satisfaction of any new vehicle (previously all toyots trucks) that I've purchased.

I used to think the 5.7 with 4.30 rear was the be all end all but honestly this 2.7 out performs it in every way all the while getting significantly better mpg . Jury is still out on long term reliability but so far I'm optimistic.

I really think you made the right choice...Keep us posted on how you're liking it over time. Great color choice btw!

Maxx102 Congrats on the new truck!! I also came from a Tundra, I had a 2012 Tundra Platinum, loved that truck, but man I sure love this new F150. I have a little over 3000 miles on it now and no complaints!! Enjoy!
