Default Respond to Text Message while driving

I'm new here and contemplating a 2017 King Ranch. One feature that my 2014 Dodge Ram had was the ability to respond to an incoming text message with your voice from the steering wheel, which was then converted to text and sent.

Does anyone know if you can respond to an incoming text message (NOT with a canned response) but actual response, while the truck is moving while using an Android phone?

With Sync3 and an I phone, yes. Not sure about Android.

Yes, was wondering specifically about the Android. Maybe it works if using Android Auto. Was hoping to hear from someone who has Android and Sync3.

If you press and hold the call button on the steering wheel, it will activate the phones system (Siri or whatever android uses). This is true for every version of stereo Ford offers. Some of the newer radios work better through the sync system than others.

I do not believe you can type it on the screen.

While using android auto you just hit the voice command button and it pulls up Google now, so texting, calling, weather, navigation, any other thing you'd use Google now for it will do. Really nice, however I've noticed when it's done with the command and the music comes back on it's stuck in the center channel or whatever speaker the truck uses for commands. It's easily fixed by hitting the voice command button again (twice) to get it to normal though.

With android and android auto I just say "Ok google, text jim bob" It'll respond with ok, whats the message, I speak the message, it plays it back and then I send or cancel it... works well.

Yes you can respond to incoming messages with Google/Android. I'm not sure if there's a voice command to read the incoming text (I tap the notification on the screen). Once the text is read to you Google will ask if you want to respond. Say yes. "Ok, what's the message?" Dictate your message. It will read it back to you and ask, "Do you want to send it or change it?" You can send, change, or cancel.

Android Auto rocks.

I was in a new King Ranch at a dealer today, and he said go ahead and pair your phone. I also had Android Auto, but when someone would send a text, I was only able to reply with canned texts. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
