Replace rear door window?
No clue how this happened, but i noticed it yesterday. I already checked the upper channel and didnt see anything wrong. Maybe a rock hit it? Any idea what the best route is to replace the window? Should i go to a junkyard? Insurance claim? Glass company? Thanks guys.

Very weird location, but accidents can sometime be weird!
Personally I would go with a glass shop, just because it will require that you disassemble the whole door to get the window swapped out and who has time for that?
You are looking at $300-$500 for a glass shop to do the repair. As a rule I will only involve insurance if the damage is 150% of my deductible ($250), but talk to your insurance agent and see what they recommend.
As for weird occurrences, about 15 years ago, my rear window shattered while driving at 65 mph on the highway, scarred the crap out of me. At 1st I thought I was shot at, but then the LEO found a lug nut on the passenger floorboard. Turns out that a lug nut came loose from a car (identified as a Honda) and came flying thru the rear window, thru the passenger headrest and thru the dashboard, ending up putting a nice dent in the blower motor!!! Talk about a freak accident, I was just happy that I had no one in the passenger seat when it happened! Insurance covered all of the damage at the time.

The day is yet young, but, so far, you win for weirdest automotive freak accident story of the day. That is one magic lugnut...
Does it leak water. If not I would just sand or grind off any sharp corners and drive on. When closed if I didn’t see it or full open I would just drive on. Going insurance route or even out of pocket cost is not worth it in my opinion. If I were to get it fixed I would go to a glass shop.
I also vote for a glass shop.
Myself i'd pay out of pocket or a DIY replace.
The less i contact my insurance company for any kind of claim the better.
If not a direct rock hit,
it looks like someone could of been prying on that window to get it open.
Or something hard got stuck in the window channel causing the chip.

Literally the hardest part of removing the entire door panel is a 6" x 3" trim panel below the handle to access two bolts, other than that it can be done in about 2 minutes. It's a $5 part if you destroy it getting it out. Only way I was able to get them off is by using a super slim trim tool that has little steps on the end to grab it from the back, pull it out enough to get a bigger trim tool in along the top edge and then work that towards the middle and it will pop. Avoid metal tools as it likes to spit them out and put gouges in non-replaceable panels (ask me how I know)
The window itself is just held on with a 2-3 bolts that on a metal bracket that clamps the bottom of the glass, not hard to remove.

i have replaced both passenger side windows on my 16. Each time was a $50.00 deductible...... for me, its a no brainer.... let the glass guy do it. Your deductible may be higher though.... something to consider.
To the window problem put it thru insurance unless of course you don't want to & are handy changing glass....never done a 15 but shouldn't be that hard... I think you might have problems locating a used one from a door that's already damaged with good glass though????
I googled carpart.com in Canada there are plenty available anywhere from "US" $125.00 to 184.00...just to give you an idea...
