Default Removing Column Shifter

2015 XLT SCab 5.0 Auto 4x4
I am getting ready to swap out jump seat for console with floor shifter. Can the column shifter and cable be removed without taking the dash apart?

https://www.f150forum.com/f118/how-2...-guide-385292/ I would think the shifter itself could easily be removed without ripping into the dash. Can't you just leave the column shift cable and detach it underneath since a new cable has to be used for the console shift?

Default removing column shifter

I am not to concerned with the cable, but getting to the bolts that hold the shifter to the column. Original plan was to just swap to a console without shifter, but the used one came with everything, shifter, cable , wire harness, etc.So I figured, why not.
I have read every post about this, but couldn't find anything specific about removing the shifter.

Why not just buy the shifter blank out kit and leave the shifter on the column. Much more usable room in the console without a shifter. Tasca, FL3Z-1504567-DA

Yes you can remove it without taking the colum out its just 3 screws i believe just have to remove the to front bolts the hold the colum up in front so you have a little more space to work

Thanks for all the info. I did this swap over the weekend. I had the column shifter and cable removed and ready to install the console. I just couldn't bring myself to cut the wiring for the conversion to console shift.
I ended up installing the console, but leaving the column shifter in place. I am very happy with the results.
I may try to find a column shifter in the junkyard that I can get wire connectors from, then use those to do the shifter conversion without cutting any wires.
I will also be posting soon in the classified section if anybody needs a jump seat in medium camel, or dash trim pieces for a non console truck.
