Default Remote Start Light on Keyfob...confusing

Hey guys,

I have a 2015 F150. My remote start works great...however...I have noticed that sometimes when the truck is not in sight, or a bit of a distance away, when I press to start the truck, the red light flashes a few times.....however, once I can see the truck, it has started successfully. By looking at the guide, if it flashes Red, it states that the remote start was not successful. Any ideas, why mine would flash Red like that, but the truck did start? Example would be tonight, coming out of a store, I could not see the truck, but was not all that far away from it...I decided to press remote start to see what color light flashed....the Red light flashed.....as I walked across the parking lot, and past the cart corral, my truck was in sight, and running. Weird. Any ideas?

Just noticed mine started doing the same exact thing. Had my truck over 1.5 years and it never did it before. Hopefully someone knows what is going on! Maybe the battery is getting weak, but have no clue.

Try new batteries in your key fob. Your truck is getting the signal to start but the key fob isn't getting confirmation from the truck that it started.

Are both remotes acting the same?

I noticed the same thing on mine, had the truck for about a year always use the same key. I was thinking it was probably the batteries in the fob.

Mine's done it since brand new it it's long distance. It's just because it didn't receive the confirmation signal.

Yes, both of my remotes do the same thing. Maybe it's as a few others suggested, just on long distances, the fob is starting the truck, but the truck is too far away or obstructed, between it and the keyfob, that it's not giving confirmation back properly?

Had my truck 3 months now and noticed this a couple weeks ago as well. Definitely not a low battery in the Fob at least for mine. I guess it just has to do with the relay signal back to the Fob?

There's a couple of spots where mine will also flash red, but I know that it does start every time. The fob must have a very weak receiver because I can't see how the truck can't transmit a more powerful signal than my fob. I miss my Viper 2-way. 1-mile range, confirmation every time, and even showed the internal temperature... My warranty is up, so I'm considering buying another one.

This is indeed the reason. There is a easy, and inexpensive option to move the antenna up into the headliner to dramatically increase the range, but I wouldn't do that if it's starting and just not telling you that it is.
