It seems like they're getting more popular but that might be because I've been wanting one so I was looking around for them the last several months.

The hold up for me was the fact they don't make sense to buy new. A crew cab xlt with rebates is 37 and you'll be 32-33 for an xlt reg cab. Then crew cab will holds its value better. But finding the rcsb used makes sense.

Are Regular Cabs Making a Comeback???

Well around here I see more Dodge & Chevy RC's with most being shortbeds then Fords, but the Screws are everywhere.....I've owned several trucks since late 70's and every one them were regular cabs....I'm on my 4th RCSB now with 2" level with 34" tires and I get a ton of compliments on it....I'll probably take some heat for this statement but I guess I'm getting old because to me a pickup truck is supposed to be a 2door...I understand the need for a 4door and NO offense to the Screw owners but to me MOST 4doors are just plumb ugly IMO

While I won't go so far as to call 4 door trucks ugly, they do look odd to me.
Being 38 years old, not 20, I grew up in the age of 2 door pickup trucks, and 4 door cars. That is just what I am more used to is all.
My fun car is a 2 door Challenger srt 392. My practical car is a 4 door Subaru wrx, my daily driver is a regcab F150. My wife being much younger than I am thought pickups were usually 4 doors, but after being with me 4 years now she is a convert and loves regcabs to. My wife has a 2013 F150 regcab, and my daughter drives a 2005 srt 10 regcab. As we live where winters bless us with a lot of snow, my daughter parks her truck when the white stuff starts to fall, and drives a wrx as well. I am unconventional by today's standards though, and always have been. I had a part time job at age 11, graduated from high school 3 years early. Raised my daughter on my own from day 1 as her mother did not want a child, but at least i managed to convince her not to have an abortion. I was only 19 years and 6 days old myself when she was born. I didn't date much after that as I was focused on my career and my side business, and my number 1 priority has always been my daughter. Then 4 years ago I met my now wife, she was only 22 at the time, to my 34, but love doesn't care about age gaps. We are married now, and my daughter and wife get along great. No it isn't weird having a daughter and wife 6 years apart in age, but people sure ask me that often.
My daughter and I also converted my wife into a regcab driver, and Ford Woman, as she drove a very unreliable 2010 tundra when I met her. That Tundra was a heap of junk to say the least! She traded it in on her 2013 F150 and has never looked back.
So having been odd my entire life, I guess it is not surprising that I just do not understand crew cab pickups. The 3 years I owned a 2007 F150 crewcab, maybe once somebody rode in the back. If we picked up a friend of my daughters to go somewhere, my daughter would flip up the center console and sit beside me in the front and her friend sat by the door. Even now we often go out together and we sit 3 wide. If i so much as suggest that we take the Subaru, my daughter says no dang way is she sitting in the back.
She would rather drive her own car than sit back there.
So the car stays home, and we drive around 3 across in the pickup.
Please don't take this as my bashing crewcab pickups, because it is not.
Just saying that they are not really my thing is all.
Yup I am a weirdo!

I don't think the question required everyone's life story.

The RAM R/T is about the only reg cab I ever see around town in my area. It has been documented that reg cabs are no more cost effective to build than other models. Limited inventory with an impact to lines that build multiple models. Doesn't make sense for them to build a large supply of RCSBs anymore.

After having my 5.5' supercrew for 10 years and rarely hauling extra people, I decided I wanted an 8' bed. I initially wanted a regular cab, but my other vehicle was a convertible 350z which is a two seater. I went supercab with an 8' bed to cover the need to occasionally carry a few more people. I really do like the extra space for hauling crap in the cab, I may have ended up with a regular cab if they still had the little suicide doors on them. The other upside is that I could justify trading in the Z for another two-seater.

My Screw is MY car therefore there's no way I could just use a single cab without it being a royal PITA! I have owned 2 regular cabs but also had a 4Runner for hauling people and my dogs. Now I have a vette (totally not practical) an older Jeep Wrangler that's ok for short hops and my new 2017 Screw. I have people riding in my truck all the time so the 4 doors are a great feature. BTW my 06 was a Scab and I didn't like it for a host of reasons especially the way the rear doors opened!

I'd say 90% of the regular cabs around here are strictly work trucks! The great majority of pickups around here are either Scab or Screw.....

Now, this was a NICE regular cab pickup, for those of you who know what a Tremor was, back in 2014.

The Chevy 454SS is what really got me into trucks, I think. Ford answered with the Lightning a few years later, and the rest is history.
