I have the same exact noise. 2016 3.5 eco. Did you ever figure out where the noise was coming from?

Some have found the loose exhaust clamp to be the culprit. For me, it was the heatshield by the exhaust manifold and wastegate rattling on the wastegate.

When driving between 20-35 mph I will let off the gas (all is good) then slight accelerate in which it does not down shift (Causing a slight bog down) there is a rattle. If I let off the gas it goes away. If I accelerate more it will go away.

That I can tell, it will only only do this during those lower sleeps.

A friend thought may be a heat shield but it could not find anything rubbing or loose.

Any Help?
I have a 2018 F150 doing the exact same thing, no one has been able to find cause. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My truck does the same. What I tracked it down to is the PCV valve. They tend to rattle quite a bit when the engine is cold thanks to the spring that is inside them. Best thing to do is remove the engine cover and then start the truck when cold to confirm that the PCV valve is the cause. If it is, it is harmless and just annoying.

Fidel. Thanks for posting the picture. I have a 2015 Lariat SCREW. I was getting the rattle around 1000 rpm's. Was driving me nuts. When I checked this clamp, it was actually broken and just dangling on the exhaust pipe. I just grabbed it and took it off.

2016 3.5 Ecoboost. Was the heatshield by wastegate. Just bent it with some pliers for now but may have to cut it as others suggested. This was driving me bat sh*t crazy. Only happened in gear and at low RPMs.

Sub'd. I just picked my truck up after 33 days at the dealership getting the cam phasers replaced. I asked them to diagnose the same rattling noise on decel/coasting/low RPM but they were unable to duplicate my concern....

I've checked the heatshield before but thought it was fine. I'll double check that as well as the one by the wastegate and hope that cures the problem. It's super annoying.

In my case, the clamp was corroded and broken (see the new clamp in the photo). Don't get deceived by the tightness of the shield, believe me, if the clamp is not holding the shield, it will rattle! Please, rotate the photo..... This is a 2016 XLT 350 ecoboost
Using post 29's description, I was able to locate that pipe and find the heat shield attached to it. I added a hose clamp to the side that was not welded and it fixed ny rattle!

This sounds like my 2006 noise. I think it is the auto trans lagging.
