I have always depended on the Valentine One and have been trying to buy a new one for almost a year since giving my old one away. It appears they are now out of business for some reason. Not sure what I will buy to replace.

I haven't used anything else in 15 years so no honest way to compare. But I have no issues with both of my V1 radar detectors. I did modify the settings to turn off all warnings from X and K bands as neither have been used by police for traffic enforcement for decades but they are commonly used for automatic door openers at drug stores and grocery stores. Once I did that I was able to turn up the volume because I was no longer getting false alarms every 10 minutes. Unless you turn off X and K, you will subconsciously begin to tune out the warnings because almost all of them are false alarms. Then you turn down the volume and a month from now when you get a legit warning you ignore it and get a ticket.

Second advantage is that V1 tells you which direction the signal is coming from. I can't believe they are STILL the only company with this capability.

Third is the awesome customer service. You can take any V1 detector of any age and send it in to be updated to the latest technology. The cases may look the same as 25 years ago but the programming is state of the art.

On the highway I get warnings over a mile away and in the city I still get a half mile of advance notice. Just be wary of the 'instant on' tricks. You can't ignore just a single, apparently random alert. It might not be so random.

Damn, it says they are out of stock of new detectors.

Look at the max360. I've had the V1 and a few others. I won't own another RD without GPS and the ability to lockout false signals.

On the highway I get a 1-1/2 miles notice

Yep, it’s been that way since at least around March 2019, which is when I first tried to buy a new one. If you call they will say they aren’t out of business. I think they are just trying to clear out inventory of any old parts or accessories. How can you be in business to sell radar detectors if you haven’t had one in almost a year? Heck, you could walk to China and pick up parts in that time! LOL

Escort Max 360 under rear view mirror on factory suction cup mount, with SmartCord tapped into the mirror for power and a mute button next to the trailer brake. Love it

edit: I see a lot of people using the blendmount. I used something similar for my old Escort RD, and looked at them when I bought my 360. I decided that I’d try the factory mount first and order the blendmount later, and I’ve been so impressed with the factory mount that I wound up buying a second one for my other vehicle. It’s been solid, with no rattling or falling down, for a year now

The Escort Max 360 is great, it has the directional arrows, gets firmware updates (which have helped eliminate a ton of false alerts - especially the ones from newer honda/acura sensors). I wanted to keep K band enabled as it is used in my area from time to time. As another person mentioned, it also has the GPS chip with the ability to lockout signals you don't want. Lastly, you can also link it to the Escort phone app, which gives you easy access to the settings as well as live radar alerts posted by other users. Lots of good features.

Make sure whatever you get that is has built in GPS and update\able camera maps
