Default Quick help with lug nuts

I want to order McGard lug nuts and I see I can get a pack of 24 from RealTruck, but I'm not quite sure what to order here.

https://realtruck.com/p/mcgard-lug-n...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

1. Hex or spline?

2. Hex size 1 inch or 22 mm if spline (which is what I saw some others bought in threads I researched), but I saw some bought hex and those choices then are 22 mm or 13/16"

This is a less expensive way to buy them than buying packs of 4 for $18.60 each where I know the part number is 64023 but I'm confused on my choices. Also are the locking ones a pain in the butt? I doubt anyone would steal my wheels as that's never happened before and I live in the boonies.

Spline has a smaller base, usually meant for aftermarket wheels. I just went through all of this when switching from OEM to aftermarket wheels. After talking with McGard and then test fitting, my 64023 would not fit my aftermarket without a thin wall socket. They told me I needed splines for them.

I had the same issue with McGard and not being able to figure out what to get. F the F them. I got Gorillas instead. I suggest you do the same. Don't reward ineptitude!

I have OEM wheels and have no plans to change them. It's my daily driver but it's also a farm truck. There won't be any leveling or lifting or changing wheels or tire sizes.

I person would not run splines on OEM wheels, having had both, the base of a spline lug is not as robust as OEM lugs. FWIW, I have had excellent communication with McGard, their customer service is top notch as I have always gotten a reply to a question in under 4 hours. Gorilla is trash unless you like rusty lugs in less than a year.

If you want to see the truth, just Google gorilla lug nuts rusting and Google McGard lug nuts rusting, separately and you will see what I am saying.

I plan to get the McGard 64073. No need yet, an impact has not seen my wheels yet. It is the correct bulge (or best they have). They are a tad pricy, but everything I've seen say they will rust less than others.

I was just hoping not to have to spend $120 (without tax) buying packs of 4 if possible. I just can't seem to find anyone selling 64073 or 64023 in 24 packs for a possible savings.

I need new tires and my OEM lug nuts are swollen.

Also is chrome more likely to hold up compared to the powder coated black ones? Either would look fine on my truck as it has the chrome package and the black grill.

I have never had any issues with lugs discoloring or rusting on any vehicle, but my vehicles are garaged. Do you have a garage? I just recently installed the Gorillas so can't attest to their longevity. I think powder coating is about as wear resistant as chrome plating. Probably more.

FYI: My old lug nuts are all perfect condition. I put them under the back seat just in case I ever need them. I put on the Gorillas as preventative maintenance and I think it looks better with the black lugs.

No, no garage. I have a 170 year old farmhouse and the county isn't giving any building permits to anyone with a septic tank over 15 years old unless they replace the one they have. And I mean any permit for anything.

I'm in northern Ohio so winter weather and anytime I venture away from the rural area I have to deal with heavy salt. Of course I need to do this for groceries, doctor appointments, etc so I'm almost always having to deal with the salt.

The ones on my old Dodge were there for all 19 years without problems. Why can't they make lug nuts like they used to?
