Default push button start question

No... It's a retard safety feature designed by a retard engineer designed to be undefeatable by apparently retards like us so that we won't "accidentally" leave our trucks running and forget about it like retards.

All this and I feel like a retard every time I walk out of my truck with it still running and it honks at me twice while people stare at me. Lol

While this may be a "fix", I will add that I don't recommend it. Just last Saturday i was driving to a buddy's college graduation get together at his house. I had myself, my 6 month pregnant wife, my 5 year old, and my MIL and FIL (everyone fit comfortably by the way). I live in a rural(ish) area south of DFW. His place is in Arlington (mid DFW). While I was driving, a car driven by a man of questionable resident status began veering into my lane. I was driving about 55MPH with a car fairly close behind me (this is the norm) so the options of braking seemed like a worse idea. So I did what I do when I'm driving the fire engine. Lay on the horn. He snapped out of his most likely alcohol induced stupor and swerved back to his lane. I'm willing to bet the cost of the damage that had I not done that he would have hit me in the front right tire area. I'm no physics major but him hitting my tire at that angle and speed of both vehicles could have easily caused a rollover, thus endangering the lives of 6 people.

Short answer to your long question - I'd deal with the double honk or figure something else out.

PS- I really wish someone would do something proactive about unlicensed, uninsured motorists.

You have options to prevent the double-honk.

Leave your key fob in the truck.

Take your key fob, but leave your OTHER key fob in the truck.

Don't close the door all the way.

Has anyone has their alarm go off when leaving both fobs in the truck, with everything off? Happened to me last week. I have had issues with accidentally pressing the panic button, usually with the fob in my pocket, as I carry something that bumps it. I was packing stuff in the truck to go to NH for the weekend, and left both keys inside the truck, with the doors unlocked and windows down. Next thing I knew the alarm was sounding. I'm thinking "I couldn't have hit the button, I don't even have it with me!" The only thing I can think of was that both fobs were in the truck, and it didn't like that so it sounded the alarm. I haven't tried to test my theory to repeat the behavior.

Excellent idea for when you want someone to steal your truck You can't lock the fob in the truck so you might as well fill up the gas tank and put a "Free truck" sign on it.

wouldn't matter. if it is running, someone can still drive off without the key fob in it. fob is only required to start it, not to keep it running
