Default Pros and cons wanted

I have a 2015 F-150 XLT with 265/70R17. I want to go up to a 285/70R17 all-terrain. Do I have to worry about rub, getting a fender extension, or any other concerns? Has anyone tried other tire sizes on their stock XLT?

Lots more. Often asked question "will these fit?"

I have 285/70R17 KO2's on my 2015 5.0 4x4 with a 1.5" leveling kit up front. No rub, negligible drop in fuel economy. You'll need the Hypertech speedometer calibrator ($230ish) to get your speedometer and odometer accuracy back.

What he said... I put 35's with a 2" level on my truck and only saw a 2mpg drop. Factory tires to BFGoodrich T/A KO2's. So going from a 265 to 285 shouldn't be bad at all.

Do you get any error indicators on your dash from speedometer or odometer? If not, I wouldn't be worried about being off of my speed. I had that issue with my Jeep when I went with a bigger tire.

Did you have to do any cutting or anything to get them to fit?

I didn't get any indicators on my dash, just my speedo reading about 3-4mph too slow on the highway. I bought a Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator on AutoAnything and calibrated the computer for the bigger tires. Everything is perfect now.

To bleda2002, the shop that did the install removed the front and rear crash bars which I'm not exactly happy with. The rears were unbolted so I can put them back in, but the fronts had to be cut out. That's the price I paid to run 35's. I'm going to put the rears back in and see how bad it rubs. I'd be ok with a tiny bit of rubbing for the added safety.

At least your truck looks great, really digging the wheels on it.
