Anyone have this on their 2015? I wanted to get the discount in 6 months as I drive pretty mellow but when that thing is plugged into my truck the dash freezes up and nothing works on it.

 

If you check the owners manual it says to not use those things. Just for that reason.

Not surprised with how complex the computer system is. More computing power than the Space Shuttle.

 

Dang didn't know that could be an issue. Glad i used mine on my ram to get the discount before i traded for the f150 I guess.

 

I wonder why they would cause problems. They only read data like you would if logging data for a tuner or logging using Forscan.

I thought about trying one but with my luck my insurance would go up, not down.

 

I had one on my 2015 for 6 months. My rates dropped ~8% but it was probably more trouble than it was worth. I'm generally a pretty conservative driver, but it would **** me off to no end when I would come up on some traffic and have to do slightly more than breathe on the brake pedal to stop and the snapshot would beep at me for a "hard" brake. Their idea of a "hard" braking event is something that MIGHT tip over a wine glass sitting on the floor.

That being said, I never had a single problem with the device on my truck. I'm wondering if your Lariat has BLIS or the 8" productivity IPC or some other gadget that I don't have on my 302A XLT that might be causing problems.

 

If I did that my insurance rate would be ~$50k/year!

 

Actually, it never even crossed my mind to give an insurance company ammunition to deny a claim for any reason they could imagine up from those logs. If you are cause resulting in a massive claim, especially injury, and that goes to court, you think that data would benefit you....i think more than likely not the way they would spin it.

Also, my rates wouldn't go down...drive it like you stole' it.

 

They claim that they won't ding you for poor driving, you'd just get 0% for an additional discount.

I did snapshot for both mine and my wife's vehicles (mine prior to purchasing my F150) and was able to get about a 18% discount on each vehicle. You are stuck with the device for one term (if you pay every 6 months, you have it 6 months - yearly I'd believe you'd be stuck with it for a whole year) and you do have to drive like a grandma.

As was noted earlier, if you so much as look wrong at the brake pedal it'll ding you with a "hard brake". You also get penalized for night driving (between like 12am and 5am). Kind of a crappy deal at times but if you play the game you can save some money.

 

The 12am -5 am thing is bad. I do not drink, if i am on the road after 12am it is either an emergency, or after an UFC fight at a friend's house. Not cause I am out partying. That is an unfair ding.
