How on earth could that happen? They're not using the same mechanism to count the trip meter as they do the odometer?!?

At first I thought that the problem was the overlapping 2 and 3 in the tenths of a mile. The interesting bit, to me, is that the trip odo is higher than the total odo reading.

I'm pretty sure the odometer and trip meters measure from different places. At least that's the case with Toyotas.

My Trip 2 and overall odometer are .5 mile off. The thing is, I just passed 7,500 miles and it's still .5 mile off so I don't think it's an input issue where both odos would gradually see a larger separation. It's almost like the car rolled half a mile then the Trip 2 odo was reset.
