Default Power Strip usage

I'm about to head out on a road trip with the family and my son asked whether it would be okay to plug a 6-plug power strip into the 12V outlet. He just wants to keep multiple devices like a Nintendo Switch and his phone charged during the trip.

I'm thinking it's okay, but just wanted to see if anyone has had any personal experience since it's something I've never conceived of doing.

Should be just fine, as long as you don't exceed the output of the inverter.

Factory inverter is 400 Watts. Have your kid add up all the INPUT Wattages (should be listed on the device or on the AC adapter) for the the devices he’s trying to charge. Should be a good exercise. Power = Voltage X Current. I would not go over 200 Watts in order to compensate for inrush current of the plugged devices so they don’t blow a fuse. Good luck!

Device chargers are 2-5 W. Plug in as many as you want.

Never seen a 12v strip... Plugging at 110 strip into the inverter is fine as noted after checking wattage.

Agreed, I have seen 12V multiple outlets, but not a strip. Maybe he forgot the "0" after 12.

I think you'd be better off with one of these. More efficient use of the wattage. It's on the pricey side, but it's solid. I use it when I travel so I don't have to carry multiple USB bricks with me. Plug that into the 110v outlet in the back and you've got 4 USB ports and a USB C ( I think the Nintendo Switch is USB C).

Just plug it in and go. If you plugged in 5 Nintendo switches and 5 iPhones you would be just fine. Those draw such little power you will be fine
