Default Power outlet via connecting to Trailer plug, etc ?

Hey guys i've seen some other threads but some of the links to products are dead and I'm just looking for a solution for my dad's truck... he has a 2018 F150 STX model and is really just looking for a fast solution to a power outlet in the rear of his truck.. my Toyota Tacoma has this really neat outlet in the bed where I can plug any 3 prong outlet and just have to have my keys in my truck and press this inverter button.. Is there any way to get a power outlet from the trailer connector ? He really just wants to use it to plug in an extension cord to some lights to see getting into his storage facility when it's dark... any help guys? thanks so much !

If you want power in the bed, you will have to run your own wires, fuse and connector. You can't just tie into the trailer plug. The TRM (Trailer Module) must sense a trailer connection by seeing power draw by the trailer light circuits before it will energize the trailer power wire.

Or you could just do what I did and run a 6 inch jumper under the dash to give constant power all the time, trailer or not, with no issues.

Can you clarify, is he looking for a 120V outlet (fed from the inverter) or 12V power?

I jumpered between 2 wires on trailer controller, added a switch in the middle and have power at the 7pin whether trucks on or not. I use it to run a airator for fishing.

I just want something where he can plug in an extension cord to power some lights to his storage area when he backs his truck up to it (it's very dark and there's no electricity to his unit). a generator has been stolen as well in the past so I thought this would be a good solution as I could back up my tacoma and just plug in the cord to my outlet which came with my truck.

Well, he could always run an extension cord thru the back window to the 110v outlet in the cab.

Otherwise it's going to take customization.
How about some kind of battery powered light?
Or a car battery + small inverter in the bed.
