Possible Sunroof Creaking/rattle fix!
#11
Do you need to take the headliner down (obviously i think the answer is yes, but how much of it and how labor intensive is it to do) do you need to access this part. Do you have to take out the a and b pillar panels in order for it to drop? Any write up would be awesome on this, seriously I love my truck but want to smash a sledgehammer through the sunroof it's so annoying.

Hey IronCobra, thanks for posting your fix for this issue - the creaking I have with my moon roof is starting to drive me nuts. I have a couple questions for you before I try it on my truck...
- When you loosen the torx screw does the bracket slide down a bit to allow access for the tape and lubricant, or do I need to push the glass up to get in there?
- I'm pretty nervous about effecting the factory seal of the glass if I'm pushing the glass up to get in there with felt tape or lubricant and creating a future water leak... Also when tightening the torx screw. I should also note I have no idea how the moon roof is constructed. Is there a risk of hurting the seal and creating a leak in your opinion? Also, is there a stopper or something so I know how far up to "push the glass up" before re-tightening the screw?
I thought I had more questions but I must have either forgotten them or forgotten that I only had two.
Thanks again

If you have to add felt or adjust glass to both sides, just do one side at a time, and check or readjust the 1st side if needed.
It's real easy and hardly takes anytime. As mentioned before just pay attention to the amount of effort used to loosen the screws so you can get them pretty close.

I actually had the factory tsb performed on mine and it stayed quiet for 2 weeks. After the squeaking returned I noticed the dealer used a blue lube. The factory specifies Dupont krytox which is clear. Frustrated, I cleaned all the seals with rubbing alcohol and lubed them with the krytox. I followed the tsb procedure exactly as written. That was on July 2. So far, not a single noise from the roof ( knocking on wood).
I'm sure the procedure will need to be done again, bit it's not a big deal, especially if it lasts several months.

Rather be on the lake
Thanks for sharing.. I got in the back seat last night and pushed up on the back of my sunroof glass and it made the noise I am hearing... Do I need to do this fix for each of the 3 tabs on each side of the rear glass? Also I am confused as where to apply the friction tape
