Default "A" Plan question

Planning to order a '16 KR in next day or two, as soon as orders are open & my dealer ackowledges. My son currently works for the dealer & I had planned/ hoped to use his A plan pricing as an emloyee. He just informed me that he plans to leave this job in 2 weeks to work for another brand/ dealer. Does anyone know for sure that once I place my order if the pricing would be locked in even though he will not work for Ford when truck comes in months later and the deal is finalized? Very happy for my son as new job comes with additional pay but a little bummed the special pricing could/ would fall through. Thanks

Default "A" Plan question

Sometimes employee pricing is not the best deal. I would be more worried about the relationship with the dealership after he leaves. I use to be in the auto business and sometimes there's hard feelings when an employee leaves. Expecially if it is one of their competitors.

I am pretty sure there will be no rebates or deep discounts on the 16's for some time, especially the KR. A plan equals +/- $7,500 so a helluva discount. This may offend some but I am not a Brand "lifer", have had many new Mopar and GM's in the last 25 years, along with several Ford's. I will take over $7k in my pocket any day and risk a dealer who I have no relationship with getting their feelings hurt over a mechanic going to Dodge! :-)

Default A Plan

From my experience in buying for 35 years on A then Z plan, as long as you get your pin # and the price on your contract the dealer has to honor it. A dealer gave me Z plan on a Raptor then discovered you couldn't do Z on Raptors, but I had it on the contract so they had to sell it to me.

Once you have an A-Plan PIN, you are good to go. The dealer will call to verify this (make sure the name and other vitals match up), and then enter everything on the purchase contract.

I have never seen an instance where A-Plan was not the best deal, with Ford. You can stack other rebates and offers with A-Plan.

Thanks Danager. Plan to go to dealership Wednesday with my son, hopefully I can get everything locked in at that time, including them issuing PIN.

This probably raises another question, any way for him to secure the PIN other than thru the dealership? When he asked last week in anticipation of this he said they acted clueless, instead encouraging him/ me to consider the '15. Guessing they would prefer to move existing inventory. Thanks All

Just to clarify for you. If your son works for a dealer, he gets D Plan, not A Plan. A plan is for direct employees of Ford Motor Company and D plan is for dealership employees. There is not much difference, though. A plan might be ~$100 or so better. To get the pin, he must login to STARS with his ID and generate the PIN. He has two per calendar year he may use. Definitely have him generate the PIN now before he quits. The PIN should remain active for 12 months from the time it is generated.

I work in ford service. This is exactly right.

I'm not sure if the plan pricing is still going to be valid if he is no longer an employee. I would make sure in advance the dealer will still honor the plan pricing if he is no longer an employee and get that in writing in a signed contract with a deposit. Even then Ford may kick it back. The plan rules specifically state "active employee"

Yeah, I am unsure how that works. I just logged into STARS to check when I pulled this thread up and read that the PIN is active for 12 months, but I didn't see it state anywhere that the employee who generated the PIN must still be a current employee at the time of redemption.

I didn't see it in stars on the d plan site, but on the azx plan site it says "active employee" in the rules. I think the rules are probably the same.
