Thanks for all the comments guys. He did just clarify it was D plan, I had made the assumption of A. My hope is that if we generate PIN, I order & have all the signed paperwork, then his employment status in a few months would not be relevant because of paperwork. He's not ready to give notice yet so I can't broach the subject when I order.

So how do you negotiate a deal with D plan pricing?
I understand that it is a fixed price based on retail, minus any rebates, and the dealer can only add a fixed amount of "processing" money. Is this correct or can I negotiate more?

Could I possibly get a better price negotiating without the D plan?

Good luck with that. D plan is a great deal.

I think the only way to do better is A or Z plan.

You really only have room to negotiate any trade in value.

Does anyone know for sure that once I place my order if the pricing would be locked in even though he will not work for Ford when truck comes in months later and the deal is finalized? Very happy for my son as new job comes with additional pay but a little bummed the special pricing could/ would fall through. Thanks

From my understanding of it have him generate the PIN now, and it's good at any ford dealer.

if you are worried about bad blood at your son's old dealer, go to another with your pin and buy there.

There is no negotiating with D plan. You get the price and either buy it or don't. Dealer can charge up to I think $200 or $250 in handling fees.

A plan is $100 better than D. I think Z is the same as D, not sure.

It might be possible. The rules say you should try to buy at the dealer that generated the PIN, but they allow exceptions. I would be worried about the "active employee" thing in the rules. A second dealer is probably going to be damn sure and verify everything before making a D plan sale from another dealer's employee PIN.

. A&Z plan is identical pricing, A is for current employees and Z is for retirees. Believe me I get a new one every year.
