Default Performance Radiator

Has anyone swapped to a performance radiator? If so, what did you go with and why?

About the only option is Mishimoto. What are you trying to accomplish?

This is one of those "if it ain`t broke, don`t fix it things", but yeah, I`ve heard mostly good things about Mishimoto.
Here are some others.

My.truck seems to act a little funky when I get around the 210 mark and above...so my.thoight process is to keep it as cool as possible? Maybe I'm jumping the gun a little? Maybe I should swap to a 160 thermostat.

Why not look into an auxiliary transmission cooler? This will take the heat out of probably the most sensitive component, your trans... and it will free up some cooling capabilities of your radiator.

yeah the radiator isn’t the problem, high thermostat temp is. Radiator will let you cool down to 160 or cooler depending on how your tuner runs the fans. Thermostat really just sets the minimum. Trucks have a large front end areas and don’t have the heat soak issues like Hondas or mechanical fan setups do. Yeah hard pulls will raise it but with fans and lower temp stat it also sheds it quickly

It'll throw a p0600 code and then start hard shifting. In 10th gear it'll do this thing where it almost hits a neutral state..hard to explain. Then slams back into a lower gear. Like 8th. It seems that as long.as I keep engine temps and tranny temps below 200 it runs and acts great.

So I actually ordered one yesterday from JRFabrication....I'll let you know if it helps.

Any other codes other than the P0600? I am by no means a super pro, but from what i found the p0600 is a serial communication link.

I found the description in this post

https://www.f150forum.com/f118/need-help-496297/

the guy has an additional code and a different concern but also the p0600

IMO if its popping a code then having issues, id bet the code is more the problem than temp. The trucks run hotter than the older trucks.

I have a 2016 f150 whippled 5.0, it always hung out at 201-206 ish, I now have a 170F thermostat and I removed the air shudders. mine still gets up to about 209F on an idle, but when running its typically between 185-192F.

Not sure what the temps are where you are, but even with a bigger radiator and lower temp thermostat if the air shudders are closing off, and the electric fans aren't programmed to come on sooner, a performance radiator will get you minimal gains in the cooling department
