Default Painted bumper rust

While detailing my truck, I noticed rust around the fog light. It’s a 2017 F150 and still under warranty. Should this be covered under warranty?

ABSOLUTELY!

However, what they say may differ from my opinion. This is not a stone chip, it is body corrosion.

If it were me....I'd off that for a big ol F'-OFF Chrome bumper!!!!!

Yeah my salesman told me they resolved this in the newer trucks, another reason I no longer trust him. Mine is doing the same. Hope someone bumps me so insurance will cover it the painted bumpers are crap.

As a person who lives in the salt belt, I would say that’s a strong argument for the ‘Chrome Package.’

Exactly why I opted for the "chrome package" on my 2017! Had painted bumpers on my 2012 and it was nothing but a royal PITA... Live in terrible SALT country and every freaken chip started rusting fast. Guess that's ok if you like refinishing the bumpers every other year but not for me. Going on 2 years with my chrome package and NO rust so I'm happy with my decision.....

Too late now.....but 3M or X-pel clear bra film is a must for painted front bumpers. I don't bother with the whole kit because I've never had paint chips on the grill surround or the leading edge of the hood, only the painted front bumper.

I just didn’t expect rust like this on a painted bumper. The truck has never been in the snow and I live in California. I do have some stone chips that are rusting, but this looks like a flaw in the bumper paint job from the factory.

As someone who has repaired and painted well over 50 of these trucks in MN, that's the first I've seen that. That does look like a defect. Rock chips happen, but that doesn't look like a chip. Looks like contaminated e coat. You have any better pics?

Here are a few more pictures. I have a few rock chips in another area that has rusted. However, this looks like the rust has started under the paint. Any input is appreciated. Thank you.
