UPDATE:

- I have a terrible sense of smell...so, no I didn't notice it.
- I don't use wiper fluid very often....so, I probably check the engine bay less often than I should. I will be more vigilent from now on
- The culprit was a loose hose (broken clamp) connected to the heater core......thankfully - not a bigger issue.

On the mustang - pretty fun drive. NOT fun to get in and out of....especially when you're used to a truck w/ a level. I can't say I'm a big fan of the 2.3l EB. It had *fun* power in upper RPMS; but, I kept wishing the turbo would spool lower in the RPM band.

I'm sort of surprised they didn't use the 2.7l, especially w/ the mustang being RWD.

Thanks to all for your comments - I really appreciate having the forum.

Good to hear it was something simple and not a blown head gasket or cylinder head issue!!!

There was a post here a while back that a guy with a 5.0 had looked over his new truck and the clamp for the bottom hose was never clamped on from the factory. It was there, just not clamped.

Interesting, since anti-freeze is not corrosive, in fact it's full of corrosion inhibitors.

Glad to hear it's an easy fix and not a head gasket or anything... For the future though, if your engine is ever acting up or overheating, pop the hood to check the coolant and oil before anything. If it's overheating from a coolant leak, at least you can top up the coolant to drive it to the shop and not cause any damage.
