out of curiosity, are you driving with the tailgate down to "reduce drag"?

What he said^^^^^ close the gate. Nope it does not help with gas mileage to run with it open, it just wrecks the gate.

Mine is only open when there's enough weight to hold it down with whatever is hanging over it.

Watched an episode of Mythbusters on History Channel, awhile back. They drove a truck, forget what brand, around a racetrack MANY times. They drove it with tailgate closed, open, and finally closed with the a/c running. Conclusion: having tailgate down while driving does NOTHING to improve gas mileage.

I have a AMP RESEARCH Bed extender. When the tail gates down with the bed extender, I just take my ratchet strap and run it around the end of the extender and around my trailer hitch. No more bounce.

The factory bed extender locks into place and holds the tailgate down.
