Default Which one?

I have had 275/65/20s and 275/60/20s on previous trucks. I preferred the 65s between those two and of course the 60s got better fuel mileage. Getting ready for new tires on my new truck and trying to decide between 275/65 and 285/60s. Wonder which one will impact fuel mileage the most? Not a lot of difference in weight so it is basically height vs width.

anyone have experience with these two sizes on their truck?

Greg.

275/65 tires have a 7.037" sidewall whereas the 275/60 only have a 6.496 tall sidewall...this is a significant difference in overall tire diameter. The 285/60 tires will have a sidewall of 6.732" tall. So for all, double the sidewall number and add wheel size to get your overall tire diameter, so 34.074 diameter tire fo the 275/65. I only bring this up because you mentioned fuel consumption...

I read the specs on the manufacturer web site and the height difference is a tick over 1/2”. The width of the 285 is about 7/8” wider. Just didn’t know or the rolling resistance of the 285/60 would have a greater impact on fuel than the taller 275/65.

Basically comes down to the look that your trying to achieve.

Then down to the tire weight along with the tire pressure VS ride quality.

Good luck

If they are both LT tires, I wouldn't try to figure out differences in mileage, pick the on you think looks better to you in your application, or the one you can get a better price on.

For fuel mileage and ride quality the p-metric 275/60/20 is of course the way to go

Thanks... I tow often and like the feel of the e rated tires when towing. I never noticed a big ride difference when I switch with my old truck. 285/60s don’t seem to be a popular size so maybe sticking with what I know in 275/65/20 is my answer.

however I just realized how much more expensive the Falkens are now vs when I bought mine a few years ago. Geesh...

agreed, I was about to order a set with my tire guy and decided ill wait a little bit longer and probably end up with a different tire.
