Offset on rims
Guys, I am purchasing new tires and wheels shortly and little confused and been reading to much in it! Think thats the problem!
i have factory rims with 275/60/20 tires on now. I am going up to a 305/55/20 or 295/65/20. Currently have a level kit on the truck.
issue is on the offset. I dont want it 1in or more outside but dont want it flush either.
So would a off set of 0,12 or 18 be better possibly!?! Thank you!

Wheel offset can be very confusing so i dont blame you. You'll need to account for the width of the rim to figure out offset though. Check out the customoffset gallery, they have one of the best galleries to see how wheels sit
With 20x9, +12 offset, 5.75 backspace and 285/60/20 tires, I am about 1/2” outside the top middle of the fender. Keep in mind, the fender tapers back as it gets closer to the ground leaving more tire exposed.
Also, I’m not 100% sure but you might have clearance issues with the 295/65/20 no matter what offset you choose.

You will also need to take into account whether or not your truck has the factory fender flares (typically XLT and up have them). These stick out another 1-1.5" from the actual fender.
From research I have done, on a truck without the flares, a 9" wide wheel (pretty popular size on these trucks and only 1/2" larger than factory width) and somewhere close to +20 offset will get you an inch or so outside the fender. With the flare in a 9" wide wheel you need to be closer to 0 offset. Your tire size (width) will play into this too though. If you're going with a 305 vs. a 275 then that is also going to stick another 1/2" or so out because the tire is a little over 1" wider (1/2" inside wheel well, 1/2" outside).
