Is this normal? - Paint
So I thought I'd run it by some of you guys. I was at a body shop getting some things painted and one of the guys saw my F150 and wanted to check it out. I was showing him the truck and popped the hood and we was like wtf??? See pics. said it looked as if it was in an accident. I said nope came this way special ordered from the factory. Nothing on the outside of the vehicle but in the door jams, bed of truck, under hood and in some of the fender lines it looks like a very light coating of paint and almost green in color. One section under the hood is aluminum not even a primer. Looks like they adjusted the fender gap. Is this normal for this truck, would you guys say anything to the dealer?
Ford don't paint any more than they have to these days lol look under your truck too. The good news is they atleast fixed a panel alignment issue for you. There is more than a few spots on my truck where there is no paint just ecoat. I painted the rear axle myself. I only complained to the dealer about the runs and bubbles I had on a door in the paint
Yes I no, but I special ordered. From the time it left Kansas City to the time I received it was only a few days. Impossible to be in an accident and fixed. I'm assuming it was painted and didn't pass an inspection at the factory so they adjusted fender, but it looks terrible. It's under the hood but damn...... Also throughout the truck it looks green because the paint is so lightly applied. Note only in jams and where fenders come together, not on the actual body.

As others mentioned, its probably from realigning at the factory. They assemble the entire body, then dunk it, and run it through the spray booths. When it comes out the other end they take it apart, all the doors come off and go to a different line to be assembled, along with the tailgate. Not sure if the hood comes off on this one, but at some point all the parts come back together for final assembly, then they go over all the gaps and make adjustments. Since the entire truck is painted as a unit, this is what happens when they realign panels after going though the booths.
Originally it was like oh well. But then I saw the face of the 2 body shop guys and got me thinking. They were like take it back. I'm not an expert but when a body shop said that I was like ahhhhhhh
