New tyres
Hey guys just a quick question:
It's almost time to change my tyres and I really want bigger ones but at the same time avoid any and all issues like rubbing etc.
I have a 2015 XLT with 17 rims and 285 with 70 Off set,
What's the biggest tyre size i can fit on my future zombie crushing apocalypse truck?
Here's a pic

I'm happy to help if I can....
First, is that your truck? It looks good, but those wheels look bigger than 17.
What size tires on on it now? You said 285, and I think you mean an aspect ratio of 70, not offset? On the side of the tire it should say 285/70?/(wheel size). Once we know that it will make this much easier.
Next, what has been done to the suspension? It looks like a level, but the type and height will make a difference.
The actual offset of the wheels you will have to find out because that makes a difference also.
Once we nail down that stuff we can figure out what can fit

Perfect!
So from what I know, up to about a 34.5 inch tire will fit with a 2" level depending on the offset of the wheel. The tire you have now is 32.7" in diameter. To get to 34" or so and keeping the 285 width and same wheel would be a 285/75/17 making it 33.8". If you went to a 285.80/17, that would be a 35" tire and I'm not sure it would fit. There are also a bunch of other options if you go to a 295 or 305 width tire.
This also depends on your wheel offset. Stock offset it 44mm and I am guessing yours is lower than that, maybe a 18mm. A lower offset will push the wheel farther out of the wheel well and make it more prone to rubbing with turning and articulation.
