Default New Rough Country Leveling Struts + Very Mild Build

Stock, looks great! But will tweak and improve this a tad.😁

ThebRough Country kit, I was on the fence about it, almost went with the Fox setup, but figured with a 3 year warranty maybe they were worth a shot.
Bought another FX4 F-150 a few months back. Wanted to share an update and hopefully a review that can help
others out.

Backstory: Bought a 2019 FX4 screw, Abyss Gray, and am making some changes to it. I’ve already added a Truxedo bed cover (the Sentry, highly recommend it btw) and knew leveling and making other changes were on the list. Planning on ordering black badges for the front, black intention letters for the tailgate, and 275/60R20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I’ve gone up to 33” on my last few F-150’s and it’s always a sweet spot with minimal fuel economy loss and modest help in the looks department. I literally ordered the tires this morning and received a text they are on the way to the tire shop and should be there this afternoon. Tirebuyer.com is the best.

Here’s where I can maybe provide a helpful review for the forum. A leveling kit was a certainty, I didn’t want to do the puck kits. I’ve done a few before, but wanted to do something a little different. I thought about going with the Fox setup (very nice, but I’m not doing THAT much off-roading), looked at Rancho’s quicklift (the lifetime warranty was nice, but I read many reviews of shocks leaking after a year), and Bilstein (I didn’t want to go through the hassle with the spring compressor and taking apart the stock setup). I happened across Rough Country’s leveling strut setup. Looks like a new setup, pricing wasn’t bad, and came with a 3 year warranty. Part number for the 2014-2019 trucks is 50068, pic below for reference. From what I can gather, these are recent in the market. I have already ordered them and they are supposed to ship on September 24th. I will update with my review on install and first impressions. Also will update as tires get put on and measurements with the Rough country kit. Stay tuned!

I’m curious how this turns out, I was between these and 5100s. I bought (not installed yet) the Bilsteins based on their reputation and not the Rough Country because there’s so very little out there about them. I even contacted RC and they haven’t done much to promote them.

Looking at the RC struts as well for my 2017. Had Ranchos on my 2007 and thought they performed well for my usage (95/5 on-road to off-road). Actually got a quote from dealer today for parts and install for the RC struts. Haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Nice looking truck, and good writeup. Ya, keep us informed. I'm interested in these just due to the cost, very economical.

I am also interested in hearing how these work. I would like to upgrade from my factory shocks with a spacer.

Kind of waiting you to get your thoughts on these. I want to level my 18 KR as well and hearing the harshness of the bielsteins wanted to see how these did in comparison. Keep us in the loop. Nice truck btw

Sorry I went missing guys. Very busy with work and everything else going on.

So install on the Rough Countrys were good. Ride is slightly firmer than stock. Not very noticeable. If you like the way your truck rides stock, this would be a good buy. It lifted my truck about 2”, still left almost a 1/2” of rake.

Install was easy, I’ve done 2 different leveling kit installs on the generation before these (with the single bolt for the lower coilover rather than the 2) and I honestly prefer those better. It is a pain to get the stock coilover out because the stock bottom bolts on the stock coilover are pressed in. You will have to remove the dust cap and unbolt the cv to allow enough movement to get the stock coilover out. After stock is out though, the Rough Country’s are easy to install. First impressions? I like them, they perform exactly as described. Would bilsteins ride better? Possibly, but didn’t have to remove the spring and mess with any of that from the stock setup. Would fox ride better? Probably, but I didn’t spend $800 . I didn’t want the Ranchos based on the negative reviews, so that really just leaves these. 3 year warranty from Rough Country and this is supposed to be RC‘s latest and greatest shock design. We will see! I can answer any questions y’all have. I wanted to get more pics of the install and comparison, but honestly I was so ready to get them on I didn’t do my due diligence. I do have the after picture. Big difference with everything done to the truck.
