Default New Owner Sync Update Question

Hi all, new to this form and first time truck owner. After 24 years as a Jeep owner I just purchased a 2019 Limited. Checking the Sync software version on the radio it shows V3.3. I read on forums that version 3.4 was out so I headed over to Owners.Ford.com website and put in my Vin and hit "Check your Vin for Sync Updates". After it spun for a minute it came back with "you have an update to Sync V3.3" which is what the radio already shows. I tried it again tonight and now it says "your SYNC system will be updated to Gen2 - V1.1". Isn't Gen2-V1.1 lower than Sync V3.3? Why am I going backwards?

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions. I have updated the radios in my Jeep Wranglers but never encountered anything like this.

Brian

I just checked online about mine and it shows me at Sync 3.4 20021 which I did a while ago to get the latest. The Sync 3.4 update everyone is doing is not supported by Ford currently. It was on the new 2020's because they have a little different hardware then the earlier trucks. The latest for them is Ver 3.3. The Gen part of it is the hardware part. It looks like you need to update to see what you get, I would bet it is going to be Sync 3.4 20021.

Gen2 Ver 1.1 is hardware
Sync 3.3 or 3.4 is the Software ver

I updated mostly for the new nav maps. The screens have a fresh new look and some things are different, such as your station presets are scrollable between the three groups instead of have to push a 1-2-3 button etc. Click on the link in my post above and there is much more info there. The users there are very helpful with those that have any issues also.

I have had trouble updating sync. I blame crap wifi, it will begin to download the update but it ends up just hanging after a while. But then what I don't get is I tried using a usb and that didn't work. Am I using the wrong usb input? I used the one (of the two) in the storage compartment with the wood cover just behind the shifter with the wood cover. Downloaded the file from ford owners site and I looked like it should work?

I have never been able to update from WiFi...as for the USB port I would think that should not matter..maybe some else here can confirm that..I would go to the sync 3.4 thread and follow the flow chart..it worked for me and is really easy to get to 3.4 with 19 maps..plus the guys that started that thread are super helpful...
