New to the forum but have been browsing for many years. I’ve owned 5 F-150’s since 2013. I have a 2020 Roush Supercharged Lariat F-150. Bought it with 15k miles on it. Typewriter noise started at about 61,000 miles. I took it into Ford to get it checked out as it seemed especially loud. Turns out I have the same oil consumption issue that many others experience. Engine needs replacing. Quoted $23K. The truck has 61,118 miles on it. I asked the Ford dealer about a goodwill repair and explained that I’m 1,118 over warranty and a truck should last more than 61k miles. The dealer said they can’t contact Ford on my behalf. I pushed a little harder. A few days later the dealer called and said Ford corporate rejected the goodwill claim and essentially offered me their thoughts and prayers. I’m probably up the creek without a paddle but wanted to post here for any outside the box suggestions. Thanks!
Time to bullet proof that thing for some big horsepower. Actually the first thing to do is to get a second opinion/diagnosis from a non-dealer. then get a 5.0 with steel liners and build that thing to take some boost....and it will probably cost less than the dealer replacement cost. it hurts now but look at this as an "opportunity" to have some fun. Short block is $7-8k, swap over your top end, and have a heavy duty engine ready for some real boost.

An overpriced truck that you bought and they wipe their hands of it. Makes me angry to think all the money spent on these trucks and they never want to help, so it seems. Or they purposely drag their asses hoping you run out of warranty by then. (happened to me with smaller issues) Sucks to hear of a 23k price tag. Ridiculous. I thought my 13k was over doing it.
My buddy has one except black. Beauty of a truck.

I actually plan on picking it up tomorrow and taking it to a non-dealer for a second opinion. We have a Roush authorized dealer across the bridge in SC. I might take it to them as well. Roush recommended that I call Ford corporate again. I called Ford Corporate and they said they have no record of the dealership calling them to request a Goodwill repair or even Ford assistance. 🤔

Sketchy for sure. No way they "fought" for you IMO. I like the F150s a lot, but seems like everywhere they don't want to help when they should be. Ford must be telling the technicians to wait out the owners warranty if possible. I had a couple minor things under warranty and my dealer dragged there asses because I was so close running out at that time. Absolutely embarrassing. I couldn't imagine having a Roush F150 for them to tell me that. I've seen the price tags on them here in Canada and for that to happen would make me have an aneurysm.

Yup. Not just Ford, this is industry-wide policy. I also have a Jeep Wrangler and if you want to read some real dealer and manufacturer horror stories, spend some time on the Jeep Wrangler forums.

If its oil usage you have, low oil level can be the cause of elevated noise.
Have you been checking level often to see if this is happening?
Some engines in to 18 to 20 year range has faulty bore coatings.
Since you have forced induction, Blow-by will be even worse forcing more oil mist back into the Intake as well as out the exhaust from both, through the PVC and normal combustion contamination.
In a boosted application, the setup is a bit different.
Under BOOST, any vacuum port has to be blocked when in Boost, then opened under DeCell and Idle conditions to vent the Crankcase and allow vacuum for power brake uses etc.

Also, excess oil in combustion lowers the Octane rating of the mixture and can cause knocking and Ignition retard. Oil is not high Octane compared to the fuel used but is in the mix and reduces the average.
The above is general to forced induction of this type.
Been there many years ago on a 5 L pushrod engine and positive displacement forced induction.
