Need advice on a couple paint issues on my truck
Hey,
When washing my car today I noticed a couple small paint issues with my truck. These are alone the edge of the plastic bedrail caps.
The first looks like a couple tiny bubbles under the paint:
The second spot kind of looks like sand or something similar under the paint:
Both of these are small blemishes. Do y'all think its worth it to bring these issues up with my dealer or are these types of things always going to show up on new vehicles.

They typically have a paint touch up guy come around for all the used vehicles. Get with your salesman and see if there is such a guy at your dealership.
Or do it yourself....don't let the service department touch it lol.

I would show them and get them to take pictures so it gets documented. Depending on how bad it is, I wouldn't want them to touch it. But if the paint starts falling off in these location in the future and it was documented, maybe there will be hope to get them to fix it. Sometime fixing small things like that just brings other issues.

At the very least get it documented (and get a copy of the documentation for your records). Keep an eye on the spots to see if they grow or start to spread, a sign of galvanic corrosion under the paint.
If it's galvanic corrosion you need to have it repaired at a ford shop certified for the 2015 f150.

Thanks for the feedback I will email these pics to my dealer today and see what they say. I think I will do another close inspection on the whole vehicle too. There may be other parts like this that I have missed.

This is the response I got from a local dealer:
I have never dealt with this type of issue before and I did not realize that some dealerships don't do their own body work. Does this sound normal or should I try to find a local dealer that also has a body shop? Thanks!
We could schedule you next Tuesday April 14 or a day after that. We would need you to bring in the vehicle and drop off for the day. We would need to take pictures and submit to Ford Motor company and get approval before we could do anything. If we get there approval they we would sublet it out to a body shop to have fixed. What day would you like to schedule?

I have the same types of paint runs around the bed and bends of body panels. I also have a spot of "sand" like you have. Mine isn't as bad, but I'm not letting them fix it. I'd just deal with it unless you need some paint work in the future.
No patch job will be as good as the factory paint. Unless it's in a spot that bugs you, leave it alone.

Personally, I'd leave it alone. Back in 1999 I bought a new Mustang and it had a few minor blemishes that the dealer said they could easily fix. Long story short, they tried to blend the new paint in and got the color wrong multiple times to the point of where they ended up painting several parts of the car in the wrong color (hood, trunk, rear quarter) and wanted to simply repaint the entire car. After some severe biotching on my end, they agreed to buy back the car and I ordered a '00 (which I still have).
Like we have seen from the rust "fix", sometimes little things are better left untouched!
