Turning it off prior to arrival obviously shouldn’t be the solution. But just for the record, Chrysler had a few years worth of certain vehicles that suffered badly from this musty smell thing and their solution was to issue a TSB that involved programming the HVAC unit to run the fan for a few minutes after the vehicle was shut off in an attempt to dry out the evaporator.

Just for the record, I own a Ford and this is a Ford Forum and dont care what Chrysler, Chey, Ram, Dodge, Subaru, Fiat, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Porsche etc do! Thats an after thought idea (aka find some kind of bs fix, IMO, to prevent a recall) for buying an non coated coil! Until this 2013 that I have, I have owned many, many cars and have never had this issue with any others! JMO though!

I guess I started a theme so I’ll go with it…… For the record, I was agreeing with you and still do! I just did a poor job of making my point in just a few sentences. My point was that turning off the A/C before your arrival should not be a solution. The Chrysler part was intended to be an example of another poor solution while at the same time mentioning that all vehicles can have this “musty issue” since the evaporator happens to double as a dehumidifier.
That being said, none of my cars or my F150 have a smell problem. I do get complaints of such on various makes and models at my shop a handful of times a year. Denver is a dry climate so I’m sure that helps.
Again, Mr. Digital, I’m fairly certain that we are in agreement. I’m also not convinced that the OP had an HVAC problem at all! Wish I’d have been able to have a crack at fixing it though…..

Y’all suck and it’s done with so let it be. I’ll let the next frustrated member read through all this and hopefully some dumb solution helps them out.

ok 2 miles before home roll rear windows down, speed up to 50... turn off AC. Blink 3 times, turn left, temp to hot. Back in driveway, turn off truck and kiss goodnight ... no more smell!

Ha! In all seriousness, I still can’t believe this worked out. I still have texts from last year when the dealer offered me 27 for the truck and I felt so cornered since that’s what I owed and I would be starting over. Sold her today for what I paid 3 years ago, absolutely insane. And for what it’s worth, I haven’t really had a smell the last two weeks!
