Default MPG lie-ometer

What kind of accuracy are people seeing on the trucks calculations of MPG vs. Pen & paper recording of filling up at the pump and mileage driven?

I ask because I've been getting such un-impressive mileage based on the lie-ometer, I finally calculated it the old fashioned way expecting to get better results, and they were significantly worse!

Trucks numbers:
370 miles driven, 25.5 gallons used for 14.5MPG

Realtime numbers:
370 miles driven after full tank, 29 gallons to fill again for 12.7mpg! WTF!

Granted I'm running 35's and a 2.5" level but 12.7 out of a 3.5 EB come on!

This is on my daily commute to work, 3 miles down the hill at 60mph, 1.5 miles throught town at 40mph no stops, then another 14 miles on the interstate at 75mph, and the same in reverse order coming home.

Yep. Common problem. My lie-o-meter says I get 15.5 overall. That's with stock 20s and tires and a 2" level and mostly city driving. Actual it's 14. A far cry from my "17 in the city" sticker.

Mine is pretty accurate.

My truck is basically stock but I drive my truck virtually the same as I drove all my muscle cars and previous trucks. I get 16-17MPG most of the time. I can get every bit of the 23MPG claimed on the window sticker but I have to get a fresh tank of gas, reset the trip meter and go straight to the highway keeping my speed between 60-65MPH. Too many stops, slow downs or trips off the highway will tank my mileage.

MPG estimates are BEST case scenario numbers on stock trucks.

My 2015 mpg-meter is about 1.2-1.5 MPG off... within range for what my last truck, a 2011 F-150, said.

It's interesting to note that for 2016, the EcoBoost 3.5 has been rated at 16/22 city/highway, which is much closer to what I'm getting now (slightly warmer temps, over 3,000 miles on the truck).

Just filled Wednesday morning. truck said I had used 25.5 gallons. I put the pump on the slow setting when it gets close to being full. Once it clicks off I stop. I put in 27.6 gal.

Mine is comically inaccurate. It has been off by as much as 5 gallons per fillup
