Default A mountain drive...... finally

Sorry to bore you with this post but I'm a little excited.

So I've had my truck since mid March but haven't had the opportunity to test it in my playground yet. The Colorado Rocky Mountains.

I've read plenty about how well people claim this 2.7EB will do but had no idea. This thing runs up the passes with ease! And for those interested I averaged an indicated 26.2mpg for the 250 mile trip from Denver (5200') up to Leadville (10,200') and back at an average speed of 70-75mph.

As easy as it climbed its not all entirely good news. The slight downfall was that there isn't much engine braking to speak of with this truck which meant you really have to pay attention to avoid riding the brakes down the passes. (Something we Coloradins are familiar with.)

My old man has a 2016 F350 regular cab with an 8' box and pulled a small camper up there. He only has the 6.2L engine, no diesel. Says he was a little disappointed in it compared the the 1997 F250 7.3L diesel he just got rid of. Felt the truck worked a little too hard and down shifted a few gears to keep the RPM's up. Pulling a 19'(?) trailer only got 7.9mpg. Loves his truck, and so do I, but yikes!
